Glass of Bandol - Your new favourite spot.

Tucked away on Merthyr Road in Whitchurch, Glass of Bandol has quickly become one of my go-to places—and for good reason. Think cosy, low-lit interiors, beautiful décor, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to linger a little longer with your favourite people.

The self-serve wine concept is such a highlight. A curated selection from across the world—from Brazil to the Czech Republic—by the glass, or even by 50ml tasting pours, so you can try a little bit of everything (dangerous in the best way).

And of course, the food more than keeps up. Charcuterie, cheeseboards, and perfectly curated small plates make it ideal for grazing. If you’re heading there with a group, the 4ft sharing boards are a must (yes, really).

Just when you think it couldn’t get better—fondue nights on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

If you’re like me, whose perfect night involves good wine and a table full of nibbles, this is it.

Happy Easter 🐣🍳

This morning starts on a savoury note— a cheesy hot cross bun layered with sausages, egg and avocado. A reminder that, for me at least, savoury will always come out on top.

That said, Easter wouldn’t be complete without something sweet. I’ve been lucky enough to receive a selection of chocolate eggs, including two from M&S. One filled with pretzels, milk chocolate, caramel, sea salt and almond nougat, alongside the Peanut Big Daddy. Both are undeniably indulgent, but the pretzel and sea salt caramel stands out—striking that perfect balance between sweet and salty.

However you’re spending the day, I hope it brings a moment to slow down, enjoy good food, and make the most of the long weekend—ideally with a little sunshine too ☀️

Ever wondered how you fare baking under pressure? Consider this your sign to find out!

Bake It Bristol drops you straight into the action: 90 minutes on the clock, a new theme each month, and the ambitious task of creating a fully decorated four-tier cake from scratch. It’s immersive, high-energy, and far more challenging than it first appears — in the best possible way.

We took on January’s “Cute Critters” theme, setting out to craft a polar bear centrepiece. While the finish might not have quite reached Mary Berry levels of precision, the flavour more than held its own — a small victory under serious time pressure.

What truly elevates the experience is the atmosphere. The garden-themed bar adds a relaxed, sociable edge — perfect for steadying pre-bake nerves or celebrating your creation afterwards. And the team? Absolutely exceptional. Warm, encouraging, and incredibly hands-on, they guide you throughout without ever taking away from the challenge, striking that perfect balance between support and independence.

Whether you’re a confident baker or a complete beginner, this is an experience that invites you to get creative, embrace the chaos, and surprise yourself. Equal parts theatre, competition, and fun — Bake It Bristol is one to have firmly on your radar.

High-protein brunch that still feels indulgent? might just have cracked the formula.

Known for their macro-friendly menu, the Cardiff favourite proves you don’t have to sacrifice flavour when you’re trying to hit your protein goals.

We started with the protein pancakes — delivering an impressive 60g of protein per serving. Stacked high and finished with crispy bacon and maple syrup, they strike that perfect balance between indulgent brunch classic and functional fuel.

Next up was the Ahead of the Game nutrition yogurt bowl, layered with peanut butter, Nutella, raspberries, honey, granola and chocolate shavings. Sweet, rich and packed with texture, it’s the kind of bowl that feels like a treat while still fitting the brief.

The standout dish of the morning though had to be the AHOTGN breakfast hash. Crispy potatoes topped with halloumi, chorizo, peppers, red onion, eggs and a drizzle of sriracha mayo — bold, savoury and seriously satisfying. As someone who always leans more savoury than sweet, this was easily my favourite.

To drink, I went for the breakfast smoothie alongside a coffee — the perfect pairing to round things off.

With locations now open on Wellfield Road alongside Pontcanna and Whitchurch — plus a spot in Bridgend — it’s safe to say there’s now an within easy reach for brunch lovers across Cardiff.

If you’re looking for a brunch spot that delivers both flavour and macros, this one is definitely worth adding to your list.

Kindly invited but views very much my own!🫶🏻- If you haven’t heard of yet, let this be your sign.

They’re hosting a pop-up on the 21st of February at Craft Republic in Barry, and it’s definitely one to add to your plans.

Backyard Dough is a homemade Neapolitan pizza company based in Barry, with everything made completely from scratch — and the quality really does speak for itself. They’ve also recently achieved a 5-star hygiene rating (so deserved), which makes it even better knowing the care that goes into it all.

Behind it is Steve — owner, creator, and chef — whose passion for what he does is clear from the first bite. You can tell this isn’t just pizza to him; it’s something he genuinely cares about perfecting.

We ordered the Backyard Blaze: Italian tomatoes, pecorino, fior di latte, mozzarella, Hungarian smoked pepperoni, nduja, and red chillies. It was bold, vibrant, and full of flavour. The base had that classic Neapolitan texture — light and airy with a beautifully blistered crust — yet still crisp underneath. The sauce was rich and generous, tying everything together perfectly.

It’s the kind of pizza that reminds you how good simple, quality ingredients can be when they’re done properly.

If you’re near Barry, I’d honestly make the 21st your pizza night.

Stacks after sunset

For Pancake Day this Tuesday, Haystack is extending its hours until midnight — so whether you’re an early riser or a post-dinner dessert enthusiast, your stack can arrive morning, noon, or late evening.

I was kindly invited down to try the new additions, and it felt like the perfect time to visit. Alongside French February specials and a refreshing functional drinks menu, Haystack continues to evolve — indulgence, but with intention.

The Pain au Chocolat Stack is unapologetically decadent: four chocolate chip pancakes layered with Nutella, chocolate and caramel sauces, topped with shortbread crumbs, vanilla ice cream, and half a pain au chocolat to crown it. Rich but balanced, indulgent without being overwhelming — and a new favourite of mine.

The New York Stack brings that classic sweet-savoury contrast: streaky bacon, fried egg, crispy hash bites, and maple syrup. Comforting, satisfying, and easy to see why it’s a staff favourite.

I also tried the iced beetroot matcha from the new functional range — earthy, smooth, and made with noticeably high-quality ingredients. The coconut charcoal latte is next on my list.

Even during busy weekend services, the team remain warm, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic, always happy to offer suggestions. It’s that atmosphere that keeps Haystack such a reliable favourite.

With lighter options (including a 600 calorie section) alongside the indulgent stacks, there truly is something for everyone.

There’s a certain ease to dining at — whether for brunch, dinner, coffee, or a relaxed glass of wine — that makes every visit feel considered and special.

After wanting to experience their brunch for the longest time, I can confidently say it was well worth the wait. Even on a Saturday at peak service, the team remained composed, attentive, and genuinely welcoming — a testament to the atmosphere they have so carefully created.

I began with the Turkish eggs, accompanied by a side of halloumi. The dish was vibrant and beautifully balanced: delicately set eggs with rich, golden yolks, layered with depth and gentle warmth from the yoghurt and spices. The bread, lightly crisp on the outside and pillowy within, was exceptional — equally enjoyable on its own as it was dipped into the silky, flavourful sauce.

Alongside this, we ordered the eggs and potato with sucuk — a more indulgent choice, generously layered with cheese and infused with the distinctive, smoky spice of the sausage. Comforting yet refined, it delivered both substance and character.

The atmosphere throughout was lively yet effortless — a seamless blend of families, friends, and couples, all immersed in conversation over beautifully presented dishes. The Park Place café itself is striking; every detail has been thoughtfully curated, from the ambient lighting to the elegant tableware, creating a space that feels both contemporary and welcoming.

Brunch at Longa feels intentional, carefully executed, and full of flavour. Choosing was no easy task, and I’m already planning a return visit to explore more of the menu.

If you’re planning a weekend gathering with those closest to you, Longa is a destination well worth booking — a space where atmosphere, flavour, and hospitality align seamlessly🫶🏻.

Looking for somewhere warm and inviting this cold Sunday morning? 🤍

offers a comforting escape, even on the greiest of days. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by smiling faces, inviting aromas, and a beautifully bright interior — a space that truly feels made with love.

I honestly can’t believe that living so close to Blossom, this was my first visit… but I can confidently say it won’t be my last.

The menu is wonderfully enticing, with something for every mood — all-day brunch, afternoon tea, or a hearty yet healthy meal. It’s perfectly complemented by an impressive drinks selection, from traditional Turkish tea and coffee to specialty hot chocolates, milkshakes, and smoothies.

I tried the menemen, a rich and flavourful Turkish dish that I’d describe as an elevated (and far superior) take on scrambled eggs. I’ve been dreaming about it ever since and can’t wait to return to explore more of the menu.

We also shared the peanut, banana & date smoothie bowl 🥣 — typically a summer choice, but surprisingly perfect for this time of year. Refreshing, energising, and beautifully balanced with crunchy and smooth textures.

Lastly, we couldn’t leave without trying the simit — described as a “dunking sesame bagel.” We paired ours with clotted cream and honey, and it was the perfect blend of sweet and savoury.

All in all, a wonderful place to meet friends, enjoy a coffee, watch the world go by, and indulge in delicious Turkish dishes — whether you’re treating yourself or keeping things light during your January wellness kick.

There’s nothing better than Christmas! 🎄✨
And what better way to celebrate than at our favourite Thai spot in Cardiff Bay?

Giggling Squid has an incredible menu all year round, but they’ve truly gone above and beyond for the festive season. From the moment you step inside, the location and setting feel gorgeous, luxurious and effortlessly beautiful — the perfect backdrop for festive dining.

We enjoyed so many dishes throughout the evening, but these were my standout favourites 🤍
✨ Starters: the sweet & sticky pork belly
✨ Mains: duck Gaeng Ped, festive sticky chicken, Rock Around the Hock & the royal red curry
✨ Dessert: the melting chocolate heart — a real winter warmer, rich, decadent and full of flavour

A festive feast in the most stunning setting 🦑💫. I cannot wait to be back in the new year for some delicious food, drinks and wonderful atmosphere! Kindly gifted 🫶🏻
