Chai & Bean started as an idea and became something real this year. From neighbourhood pop-ups to community events and markets, we’ve loved sharing our homemade chai — plus plenty of coffee and snacks along the way.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by, followed us, or supported us in any way.

But between long shifts, night on-calls and early starts, one thing always brought comfort to us and our colleagues:

A hot cup of chai or coffee — shared in moments of exhaustion, joy and connection.

PART ONE

1️⃣ We’re Omar and Ushna — a husband-and-wife team, surgeons by profession and parents of two girls 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧. Together, we created Chai & Bean to bring authentic chai, coffee, samosas and snacks to Bristol 🇵🇰➡️🇬🇧.

For us, every cup is more than a drink — it’s a moment of connection. A reflection of our family roots, our culture, and our desire to build something meaningful for the community around us 💛.

We’re so glad to have you with us on this journey.

2️⃣ WHERE IT ALL BEGAN…🇵🇰 ✨
This is little Ushna in Multan, Pakistan — where our story truly begins.

At just 7 years old, she started making chai the traditional way — no shortcuts, no premixes. Just real tea, whole spices, and a simmering pot that filled the home with warmth and comfort.

Chai isn’t just a drink for us — it’s a family legacy. Passed across generations and continents…

👉 …and this legacy would one day travel all the way to Bristol.

3️⃣ HUMBLE BEGINNINGS…

Before and during medical school, Omar worked in a hospital café and on the wards — serving patients, visitors and NHS staff.

Years later, the values of service and hospitality would be reignited through Chai & Bean. But first, our journey took us into a different kind of service — healthcare.
