Whether you are planning a baby shower, hen party, birthday celebration or corporate away day, our two private function rooms offer a setting that is completely unique to anything else in the region, with stunning 360 degree views over the Chew Valley countryside right from the windows 🌿

Where else can you hire a private venue with a fully licensed zoo right outside, gorgeous Somerset countryside views in every direction and our Park View Restaurant right on your doorstep serving wood fired pizzas, smash burgers, steaks and so much more? 🍕🐪

We genuinely do not think anywhere else in Somerset comes close🌟

Happy Birthday to our lovely Jane! 🎂🫏

Today we are celebrating one of our most beloved residents here at Chew Valley Animal Park, Jane our Mediterranean miniature donkey, who is turning the grand old age of 23 years old today and we think she absolutely deserves every bit of fuss she gets!

Mediterranean miniature donkeys originated from the Italian islands of Sardinia and Sicily, and to be classed as miniature they must grow no taller than 91cm compared to an ordinary donkey’s height of up to 160cm.

They can also live anywhere between 25 and 35 years, which means Jane still has plenty of birthdays ahead of her yet 🎉

One of our favourite things about Jane and her friends Ghost and Floss is the way they use their ears to communicate, with each position meaning something different. Ears pointing forward means they are paying attention, one forward and one back means they are feeling curious, and both ears back means you might want to give them a little space 😄

If you want to come and wish Jane a happy birthday in person we would absolutely love to see you, and if you would like to meet her and the girls up close you can book a donkey experience in advance through the link in our bio🔗💚

An important update from us here at Chew Valley Animal Park 🌡️

Due to the extreme heat we are making the welfare of our animals, staff and visitors our absolute priority, and as a result we will be making the following changes to our opening this week:

Wednesday 24th June: Closed (day)
Thursday 25th June: Closed (day and evening)
Friday 26th June: Evening closed, day open subject to change depending on the weather

We are so sorry for any inconvenience this causes and we really appreciate your understanding. The welfare of our animals and everyone who visits us will always come first and we will keep you updated as the week progresses.

Happy World Camel Day! 🐪

Today we are celebrating two of our residents here at Chew Valley Animal Park, Amelia and Lola our Bactrian camels, and the very first faces you will see when you walk through our gates!

Amelia is bold and sassy whereas Lola is more docile and shy, but the two of them are completely inseparable and when they are not trotting around their field together you will find them rolling around in their sand pit, which is honestly one of the best things to watch 😄

Swipe through to find out some incredible facts about these two and their species 👉

We are open Tuesday to Sunday and seven days a week during school holidays and we would love for you to come and meet them for yourself, head to the link in our bio to plan your visit 🐫

Let us know in the comments, did any of the facts surprise you? 👇

We asked our team what makes Chew Valley different, and honestly we think the video says it all 🐫

You'll find our keepers out on the floor with the animals pretty much all day, and if you want to stop one for a chat about their favourite animal. Every single one of our keepers is knowledgeable, passionate, and genuinely loves sharing what they know with our visitors.

We are a really interactive zoo and we love giving you the chance to get up close with so many of our animals through experiences with our donkeys, foxes, capybaras and meerkats🫏

On top of that you can walk straight into our goat and pig pens, get hands on in our small animal workshops, and spend time up close with so many of our wonderful animals.

There really is nowhere quite like it and we'd love for you to come and see it for yourself, head to the 🔗 in our bio to plan your visit!

Say hello to Ross, one of our brilliant keepers here at Chew Valley Animal Park 🐾

Ross has been part of our team for about a year and a half now, with a background in volunteering at bird of prey centres it is probably no surprise that his favourite animal here is Vic our snowy owl. 🦉

Outside of his love for the birds Ross also has a real passion for our tortoises and parrots, and like all of our keepers he is out on the floor with the animals throughout the day so if you want to stop for a chat about any of them he will always be more than happy to share what he knows 🧠

One of the things Ross loves most about Chew Valley is how interactive it is, and honestly we think that says a lot coming from someone who works here every day.

From our small animal handling workshops to keeper talks and opportunities to get up close with so many of our animals throughout the day, we really do think there is nothing quite like a visit to Chew Valley Animal Park for families and animal lovers of all ages.

If you are looking for a place to see animals you might never have encountered before, or simply want to get up close with some familiar favourites, we would love to welcome you.

We would love to know if you have visited us before and if so what is your favourite animal here at Chew Valley? Let us know in the comments below 👇

We are home to over 350 animals here at Chew Valley Animal Park and here are 5 animals you might not know we had and a fact about them!

🦊 Arctic Fox - did you know arctic foxes can endure temperatures as low as -70°C? This is because they have the warmest pelt of any animal found in the Arctic and you can come and meet ours right here at Chew Valley!

🦘 Bennet's Wallabies - wallabies can have up to three joeys at once, all at different stages of development. One fertilised egg remaining dormant in the uterus until the pouch is vacated, a second joey in the pouch and a third who has left the pouch but still returns to suckle. They can even produce two types of milk at the same time, a fattier milk for older joeys and a milk high in carbohydrates for younger ones!

🐾 Meerkats - their tan and brown fur keeps them perfectly camouflaged among the arid habitats they call home.

🦘Patagonian Mara - Patagonian maras move around in many ways, hopping like a rabbit, galloping like a horse and stotting on all fours like a gazelle, a behaviour believed to show off their fitness and discourage predatory threats.

🐢 Babcocki Leopard Tortoises - did you know that tortoises can actually feel their shells and are even ticklish?

As a fully licensed zoo in the heart of Chew Valley, Somerset we also have a beautiful onsite restaurant with gorgeous countryside views, making us the perfect destination for a full day out with the family.

❤️🐿️ Photo ready! 🐿️❤️

Our beautiful red squirrel was looking particularly photogenic today, showing off its incredibly soft-looking fur and that magnificent bushy tail.

Did you know? A red squirrel’s tail isn’t just for looks! It helps them balance when leaping between branches, keeps them warm during colder weather, and can even be used as a cosy blanket when they’re resting. 🍂🌳

Red squirrels are one of Britain’s most iconic native mammals, and we’re always delighted when visitors get the chance to admire these fascinating little animals up close.

How cute is this little woodland resident? 🥰
