PROJECT UPDATE | BALTIC STREET, EDINBURGH
It’s been a number of weeks since our last update from Baltic Street, Edinburgh, and as you can see from the latest images, the project has progressed significantly.
HRS scaffolding is now erected around and throughout all six blocks, with the access requirements across the development being serviced entirely using HRS-owned stock materials.
The latest aerial photographs really put the scale of the project into perspective, while also highlighting just how tight and logistically challenging the site layout is. With six blocks progressing simultaneously and limited space available between structures, careful planning, coordination and management of the scaffolding works is essential.
At present, there are between 10 and 20 different trades and more than 200 operatives working across the site, with Team HRS continually adapting and responding to their different access requirements as the project progresses.
From main access scaffolds and loading areas to more bespoke solutions required by individual trades, our team is working closely with the wider site team to ensure safe and efficient access is available where and when it is needed.
Projects of this scale demonstrate that scaffolding is much more than simply erecting the initial structure. As construction progresses, our role becomes an ongoing operation of planning, adapting, inspecting, and coordinating access requirements to keep multiple trades moving safely across the development.
It also means being able to react quickly to changing programmes, additional access requirements and those areas that only become apparent as the build progresses — providing practical solutions without disrupting the wider construction programme.
A fantastic effort from everyone involved so far, and the aerial images give a great indication of the sheer scale of what Team HRS currently has on the ground at Baltic Street.
