We can now fence our cows in, with no actual fence at all!
All thanks to Monil collars that are controlled via an App on our phones and powered by a little solar panel on the top of their necks.
With this modern tech, our battered old farm, with very poor fencing has jumped ahead of the game.
A big thank you to Anglian Water who funded 50% of this on the Farm Innovation Grant. We will now be able to fence off the river which we've never been able to do, as every year it would wash away in the floods, but that's another issue.

This is the best mother on the farm, she has been a favourite since she was first given to us as a cade lamb, abandoned in a puddle to die by her mother 8years ago. By contrast she has been devoted to her own lambs, delivering them without any bother and feding them superbly well. She is quite a unit herself and always first to the food, which is why she is known affectionately as Moose. This will be her last year lambing but we'll keep her with the flock as her calm and friendly demeanor is a good influence on the more skittish ones.
Happy Mother's day Moose and thank you xx

A lovely find by Barry Walker, a Charles 1st Halfcrown. Minted 1645 in London. This was a momentous year for the king as he comprehensively lost the battle of Naseby and moved his court from London to Oxford. He had loyal friends in Buckingham which is very close to us and we do often have Civil war finds here on the farm. With Aylesbury to the south, the home of leading Parliamentarian, John Hampden, you can be pretty certain that we were an unavoidable location at the time. Things got dramatically worse for Charles but ulitimatly the whole wretched Civil War did bring about our parliamentary system and this coin was last touched by someone who was there living through those dark days, that is before Barry from Bedfordshire dug it up using his minelab metal detector. How times have changed.
If you want to book a day detecting at the farm go to our website, £10 during the week until 31st March, £20 Sat and Sun. www.whitehousefarm23.co.uk

Not all Collies are clever!
This is Jasper and his friend the cement mixer.

Roy, the other dog, is more talented. Thankfully.

A superb Brown Trout caught on the farm's stretch of the Great Ouse today, just down stream from Buckingham.
Trout are an excellent indicator of water quality so it's good news all round.

At 60cm and in great shape it converts to about 5lb 4oz. Caught by syndicate member Przemek, who seems to catch most of our fish, all those Pike from previous posts and now he's after Chub. The trout was just a lovely surprise.

We offer individual fishing days that can be booked through our website at £20 a day. All Ts&Cs are there.

Introducing William the Bull.
He will be staying with us for a while but like the cows, we are rather smitten with him. Embarrassingly, he has already broken out of his field for an illicit night out with our neighbour’s heifers. Needless to say, he has now been moved far away from temptation, has re-focused on the job in hand and appears to be a happy with his life choices.

Metal Detectorisits - The combine will be with us shortly, I'll let you know here.
