A quick hello ... I haven't posted for ages and to be honest I feel a bit overwhelmed as to where to start. Its been so busy with weddings and events these last two months on top of life's admin ... juggling it all and trying to keep up on here just felt too much.

So a polytunnel of sweetpeas with my two feral cats... mummy cat and one of her offspring Suki seemed a good place as any.
Calmer days ahead... sort of... with biennials to sow and still some planting out to do. I will share what's been going on soon 💕

Couldn't resist sharing this suspended caterpillar on its thread getting a bite for lunch! Nature is amazing!!
It's been such a busy month and have had no time to post or update you on what's been happening. This week has been 🥵🥵🥵 for all of us hasn't it? Pleased to get out into the walled garden today to get stuff done and thought this little wonder hard at work was one for the grid!
However I have just researched and its uncommon for them to do this.. has anyone else seen this before? Or is the heat getting to me?? 😂😂

This was taken at 9am this morning in my polytunnel. Two successive nights of -0.9 centigrade and then temperatures quickly moving into the late 20s.
Challenging times in various parts of the UK in terms of lack of rainfall and cold nights hampering growing of arable, vegetable and flower crops.
I am lucky I can irrigate but arable farmers especially in the south east of England are in the lap of the Gods!
Is this the future? Dry springs super hot summers and rainfall in large quantities when we don't always want it.
Usually I try to put on lovely positive content on these grid squares but sometimes its good to note the realities of what farming is challenged with let alone a government who doesn't give a fig about farming and have shown they do not wish to protect food security in the UK.

Lunaria, commonly known as honesty is currently flowering its socks off. I don't grow it for the flowers but harvest once the disc shaped seedheads are formed. They are acid green to begin with and look fab in fresh arrangements but on the whole I dry them, peel off the outershell to reveal the most beautiful shimmering discs.
I tend to let the seedheads dry on the plant before cutting and hanging to dry completely. The most wonderful addition to autumn and winter arrangements.
It's a biennial so good to sow in the summer and you can reeap the rewards next year.
