Our turkeys spend the milder months out on our organic pastures here in Budleigh Salterton, pecking, foraging and exploring together, with our Maremma guardian dogs keeping a watchful eye nearby.

They grow slowly, with fresh air, space and the freedom to follow their natural instincts. It’s a way of raising birds that we care deeply about, from their first days on the farm through to your Christmas table.

Autumn mornings at Farm2Fork and a delicate pocket of low cloud still lingering 🐑🌅

There’s something lovely about catching the first light across the fields, with the sheep quietly grazing as the sun comes up.

The clocks go back an hour this Sunday, bringing lighter mornings for a while and earlier evenings. The sheep, of course, have no clocks to change — their days follow the daylight, just as they always have.

A little autumn sunshine catching the beautiful detail in our turkeys’ feathers 🦃🍂

They’re such striking birds, with a quiet, majestic presence. It’s lovely to take a moment during our daily rounds to watch them exploring the pasture, foraging and enjoying the fresh air. They’re very sociable creatures so always happy to get as close as possible forms photo or two! 📷

With Christmas gently coming into view, pre-orders are already open for our organic, pasture-raised turkeys and geese.

Shorter days, golden skies and moments like these 🍂🌅

With the clocks going back soon, autumn is bringing a different light to the farm. From misty sunrises to the last golden glow across the pastures, it’s a beautiful backdrop to our animals going about their day.

There’s plenty to keep us busy, but we always try to take a moment to stop and enjoy the view. Especially when it looks like this 💛

What a noise they all make! I think it’s because they know it’s Friday! 🥳

Our cows and sheep live together as a flerd, grazing in the pastures and moving to fresh new herb rush pastures daily.

Slow down, it’s slow cooking season… 🍲

👉🏼 Two Autumn Slow-Cook Favourites

🐄 Diced Beef, Root Vegetables & Thyme:
Brown our organic grass-fed diced beef, then add onions, carrots, parsnips, garlic and thyme. Pour in enough beef stock to nearly cover, pop on a lid and cook gently until the beef is fork-tender and the vegetables have softened into a rich sauce. Best served with buttery mash. 😚👌🏼

🐑 Slow-Cooked Lamb with Apricots & Warming Spices:
Brown diced lamb with onions and garlic, then stir in cumin, cinnamon and smoked paprika. Add chopped tomatoes, stock and dried apricots, and simmer gently until the lamb is tender. Add chickpeas towards the end to warm through.
Finish with fresh coriander and serve with fluffy couscous or warm flatbreads. 😚👌🏼

Some exciting news from Dalditch! 🌳

Our agroforestry plan has received formal approval from the Forestry Commission, an important step in a project we’ve been working on for some time.

🌳 The proposal would see around 1,950 trees planted across 60 hectares of the farm, integrated into our existing grazing fields rather than replacing pasture.

🌳 Nine tree species have been chosen to suit different parts of the farm, from sheltered valley ground to more exposed slopes. Planting is planned over three winters, with our cattle and sheep continuing to graze the fields and our pasture-raised poultry foraging among the trees.

🌳 As the trees establish, we hope they’ll provide shade and shelter for livestock, more habitat for wildlife and a more resilient landscape.

🌳 There are still steps to complete before planting can begin. But it’s lovely to see this long-term project moving forward. The trees we plant could help shape Dalditch for generations.

Our organic geese live their lives in the milder months of the year out in the fields here on our Devon farm, grazing, foraging and growing slowly, with the freedom to follow their natural instincts.

There’s no rushing their growth. Just time, space and careful daily attention 💚 Guarded day and night by our loyal Maremma guardian dogs, they are safe and protected from predators.
