Our Buildwas Meals on Wheels Co-ordinator, Nigel Bowen, accepted this certificate from Ironbridge Rotary Club today and said he would like to accept it on behalf of the project and thank myself, our volunteer drivers and Buildwas Village Hall committee for running the project, because without us the project wouldn't have been possible.

Tony Morris-Eyton, The High Sheriff of Shropshire, presented recognition certificates to the volunteer drivers of the Buildwas Village Hall Meals on Wheels project today to thank them for delivering meals to the elderly and clinically extremely vulnerable during the COVID19 pandemic. I still have limited availabilty to deliver to Garmston, Eaton Constantine, Cressage and Sheinton - so if you or anyone you know would like to have a hot meal delivered on a weekday lunchtime in these villages, then please let me know.

Cost - £7 per meal per day. I offer a nutritious, varied menu. Ideal for elderly or those who are unable to go shopping or get online shopping, so please let any elderly relatives or neighbours know.

A message from Nigel Bowen, Co-ordinator, Buildwas Village Hall Meals on Wheels Project: "A big thanks from all of us at Buildwas Village Hall for Judy's dedication to providing our hot meals every weekday since June 2020 for elderly and vulnerable people to support them during the COVID19 pandemic. With the help of our 26 volunteer drivers, we have delivered over 3600 meals and driven over 5000 miles. We are pleased to hear that Judy is planning to continue to deliver meals now our £20,000 National Lottery Funding has ended. Well done to everyone involved in the project. We will be thanking our volunteers with a presentation from the High Sheriff of Shropshire at our Buildwas fete at 3pm on Saturday 10th July (COVID19 regulations permitting) so please join us if you can!"

Message from Nigel Bowen, our Buildwas Village Hall Meals on Wheels Co-ordinator: "As we near the end of our project, residents have been asking if they can make donations for presents for our volunteer drivers as a thankyou for their dedication over the past year. Our drivers cannot accept monetary gifts or gifts in kind, but if you'd like to give your thanks, please attend the Buildwas Village Fete on Saturday 10th July where the High Sheriff of Shropshire will be making a presentation to our volunteer drivers at 3.00pm on the village playing fields - more details about the fete are here: https://www.facebook.com/events/167896985263499"

The Buildwas Village Hall Meals on Wheels project will be coming to an end at the end of this month – our last meal will be delivered on Friday 28th May. This is due to the end of our National Lottery Funding, and the village hall planning to re-open for general bookings once social distancing restrictions have been removed. However, I am planning to continue delivering meals from another venue from early June - daily cost of each meal: £7.00. If you are a current recipient of meals and would like to continue receiving them, or you would like to start receiving them, please call me asap on 07956 336239. I look forward to hearing from you. Important message from Nigel Bowen, Project Co-Ordinator, about the end of our Buildwas Village Hall Meals on Wheels project: “Our project will be coming to an end at the end of May – so our last meal will be delivered on Friday 28th May. This is due to the end of our National Lottery Funding, and the village hall planning to re-open for general bookings once social distancing restrictions have been removed completely. This project was originally set up to alleviate the impact of COVID19 on local residents, and we hope that we have done that for you during what has been a difficult year. To date, we have delivered over 3,000 meals. However, Judy Holden (who provides the meals) is aware that many of you would like to continue receiving meals, and she’s therefore looking for a way to do this once our project ends. If this is possible, Judy will send you further details in due course. Please say a big ‘thank you’ to our drivers when you next see them, as they have given up their time to volunteer, and I want to take this opportunity to thank them for their dedication”
