Deepdale Farm

Deepdale Farm Deepdale Farm: organic arable farm on the beautiful North Norfolk Coast, hosting rural craft courses We balance farming, conservation, tourism and community.

We are an arable farm set in a stunning location at Burnham Deepdale on the North Norfolk Coast. The farm overlooks Brancaster Staithe Harbour, Scolt Head Island and the salt marshes. In organic conversion, we manage most of our farm for wildlife while growing combinable crops in a rotation focussed on natural fertility building and soil health. Deepdale Farm is also home to Deepdale Camping & Rooms and shopping at Dalegate Market as well as music festivals and other events.

This was our Open Farm Sunday 2026!

Bats, birds, ploughs, combine, cake, venison, coins, woodwork, willow, walks, soil, crops, horses, pond, owls, walks and smiles.

Thank you to everyone who visited and explored our activities. It was fantastic to have so many people involved with our farm showcasing what they do, all in one place.

The main day for Open Farm is this Sunday, 7th June. Hundreds of farms across the UK are opening their doors to visitors. Use the link in our bio to find one near you. Every farm is different, every open day will be different, and most are free. We love visiting other farms and we’re sure you will do too.

Irrigation
Seal issues, pressure issues, faulty ignition switches, comms errors on the app, our farm WhatsApp the last 10 days has been full of irrigation frustrations.

After dribbles of rain we just needed to get water on our spring sown oats that won’t have developed robust root systems yet. We’re only able to irrigate about 1ha per day, and have 20ha of them. So the autumn sown rye will have to fend for itself.

Thanks to Richard and Stephen for their patience and trouble shooting.

Turtle Doves

We don’t knowingly have them on the farm yet, but when the team from RSPB’s Operation Turtle Dove came to visit last year, they felt we had lots of suitable habitat. This included both dense hedges for nesting and many plants with small seeds, particularly within our cultivated margins.

So this year we are supplementary feeding in a bid to support them early in the season when there may not be enough wild flower seeds to eat.

These now scarce birds eat very small grains, so this mix includes white and red millet, oil seed r**e and canary seed.

Fingers crossed we hear them soon!
