Photo for attention. The last post I made from Instagram wasn’t meant to go here to Facebook. I’m probably going to deactivate or delete this page at some point. I’ll let it stay active for now, but I won’t be actively checking it anymore. Feel free to connect with me on my personal page (under my name Luke Browning) and Instagram account (under ‘biochemistbrewery’). I’d love to talk to the many friendly faces and connections we’ve made over the years. Huge thanks for your support!

Peace out 🍻

🎨 I haven’t brewed for almost a year for a few reasons, but might be able to squeeze a few in this year then pick it up more fully next year. I’ll be changing this page to a personal profile going forward. I’ll probably be sh*tposting, sharing snaps of our baby Hamilton, and interesting food, beverage and miscellaneous items. Please unfollow if that isn’t your cup of tea, but otherwise happy to stay connected 🕸️

Tying up some loose experimental ends. Last time I made the brown ale, I set some aside for tests with flavour extracts. Over the years, I’ve had potent flavours completely disappear through ageing by conditioning on live yeast. One time I spent a small fortune on a grapefruit extract that’s in Elvis Juice and it was totally undetectable two weeks later 😂 I’ve also had some very fancy hop extracts from an R&D company that works with AB InBev go to waste in a conditioned brew. Each yeast and recipe pairing needs investigating!

The results from these tests showed that nothing made it through conditioning except the coffee, dulce de leche & mint chocolate chip. Good to know when Rachel wants me to make a massively adjuncted stout this year!

Not able to brew until the Summer for a few reasons but can’t wait to scratch the itch 🍺

No Experimental Series beers anymore, but more time to experiment in the kitchen! Stuffed Yorkshire Puddings with a puff lid . . . I’ll call them “Yorkshire Puffings”?

Are you partaking in Dry January? Is this how it feels? When I looked at the emptiness of our calendar for January and when I reflected on my drinking habits the last few years, I thought the opportunity was ripe to go cold off the juice🥤

A few weeks in . . . Consistently better sleep, better mental clarity, more appreciation when you can’t have it . . . And let’s see what the weighing scales report at the end of the month 🫃

When I think about ending the dry spell in February, I imagine enjoying a pour in a good old traditional pub; something lower in ABV; something more delicate. Or an absolute monster of a haze bomb with medicinal quantities of hops 😂 It’s interesting when you give yourself the space to develop cravings for the things you miss and enjoy.

Father like son. Or is it the other way round? We got to try 12 beers in an hour 💪🏼 This premises put in an application to be a pub 111 years ago and it got rejected. Then, in 2017, it became a brewery. For years this establishment went under our radar; I’m glad we found it! 🍺
