There has never been a better time to understand what’s happening to our climate—and to come together with purpose as a community.

On 27 August, we’re hosting the People’s Emergency Briefing: a powerful 50-minute film featuring leading experts explaining what is actually going on.

It isn’t a neat list of answers or instructions. It’s a chance to understand the situation clearly, talk honestly and decide what we want to do—in our own lives and together.
Because taking action as a community can feel far more hopeful and powerful than worrying alone.

We’ll watch the film, eat cake and have a friendly discussion afterwards. This will be followed by more conversation, films and action at Henbant over the winter.

It’s my birthday!!! 🎂

And I feel so very, incredibly happy to be where I am, with the people I’m with, doing what I’m doing, at this particular moment in time. I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be or doing.

I feel incredibly lucky — and you’re all part of that — so thank you.

What am I doing for my birthday? Well, one of the very few things I really dislike: a Zoom meeting. I avoid them at all costs, so agreeing to one on my birthday is bonkers… BUT it’s with the Beaver Trust, talking about bringing beavers to Henbant in a legal enclosure! 🦫

In a world that’s on fire, what do you do? You can despair — or you can get on with what’s within your influence. You find your turnip of influence and work it hard, so that it expands and becomes an incredible place to be.

We can reduce the harm we cause — burn less fuel, eat local organic vegetables, buy less rubbish — and that’s worthwhile. But we can also support one another and restore the health of our ecosystems. That’s actively doing good, not simply doing less harm — and that’s powerful.

Beavers are among the most influential creatures we can bring back to our landscape. They slow water, reduce flooding downstream, rehydrate the landscape and create a wealth of habitat for insects, reptiles, amphibians, birds and countless other species.

There are currently no beavers in Wales north of the Dyfi Estuary. Bringing them back to North Wales could be one of the most influential things we do for a healthier, more resilient landscape.

Henbant has PERFECT beaver habitat: around 20 acres of wet willow woodland beside, but not entirely on, a main river. They could do wonderful work slowing water across the watershed, while there is very little opportunity for them to cause problems for anybody else.

This is only the first “let’s take this seriously” meeting, but it’s very exciting. Henbant would be one of only a handful of beaver sites in Wales, so it’s going to take some effort.

Thought-provoking, moving and full of wonder, it’s an evening for anyone who loves stories, nature, or simply wants to reconnect with something timeless.
