Diolch milionwaith i bawb a ddaeth i'n parti agor llwybr coedwig ddydd Sadwrn! Thanks to everyone who came to our woodland path opening party on Saturday!

We raised over £1500 for the Gaza Soup Kitchen (gazasoupkitchen.org) and it was beautiful to see so many happy faces. Special thanks to all the performers who amazed us with the lovely music and to the kitchen crew who did an amazing job turning out over 100 pizzas! If you missed it, don't worry. You can explore our woodland ways next time you visit :)

Cyfarchion Tegion! Amser llysiau :)

We're feeling the autumnal vibes this week, with some welcome rain and some mists and mellow fruitfulness! It's probably the very best time of year for veg as the summer fruiting crops continue to kick out and the autumn beauties roll in.

In the basic veg bag this week we have Charlotte Potatoes, Onions, Courgettes, Lettuces, Runner Beans, Tomatoes, Tuscan kale and Spinach or Rainbow Chard.

In the bumper veg bag we have all that plus Aubergines, Red Cabbage and Leeks. Lovely!

Despite the dry summer there are many wonderful things on the horizon with autumn caulis, leeks, cabbages, beets and carrots all coming up! And we are happy to report that we are now on 100% Teg-grown veg on the scheme as our potato harvest has now been gathered in, and our onions are cured.

ALSO - Don't forget about our event from 5pm-11pm this Saturday - Pizzas Pints and Performances and the Grand Opening of our Woodland Walks. Some of our more creative members have been working hard to set up a magnificent Treasure Hunt so the event will be open from 5pm. It's £5 enttry for adults please and all funds raised will be sent to Gaza Soup Kitchen, who do absolutely amazing work running community kitchens and medical centres in Gaza. Today, thanks to the generosity of our little community, we were able to send £700 to the Refugee Community Kitchen and £200 to the Gaza Soup Kitchen.

These two amazing volunteer-run organisations provide hot meals and help to the people who need them the most - those experiencing or fleeing from violence and destruction.

Diolch yn fawr iawn i bawb a ddaeth i'n hediad agored a'n Cyfarfod Cyffredinol Blynyddol ddydd Sadwrn. Roedd hi'n ddiwrnod hardd ac roeddem yn cael amser gwych :)

Thanks to everybody who came to our Open Day and AGM on Saturday. It was a beautiful day and we had a wonderful time :)

The good times just keep rolling this week with an array of splendid summer veg!

In the Basic Veg Bag we have New Potatoes, Onions, Runner Beans, Tuscan Kale, Tomatoes, Courgettes, Spinach and Green Peppers.

If you missed our Open Day, don't worry - other events are on the horizon! On Saturday August 29th we will be celebrating the opening of our new wheelchair accessible Woodland Walk with Pizza Pints and Performances from 6pm-11pm, and raising money for the Gaza Soup Kitchen at the same time.

And don't forget about Apple Day on Saturday October 3rd when we will be harvesting and pressing apples and making Sudd Teg - we always give away all profits from the sale of our juice to a food or land-based chairty of our choice!

Noswaith dda Tegion!

Mis Awst hapus :) Mae amser tomatos yma!

As August rolls over us we are delighted to welcome some rain to the farm, although we are happy to say the forecast is great for this Saturday's open day and AGM - we'll be kicking off at 1030am and there will be things to do all day until 5.30pm or so - feel free to dip in and out. Lunch is at 1pm, AGM at 2pm and otherwise there will be farm tours, workshops and music - hopefully a fun day out for all the family!

As the weather cools, our plants in the polytunnels are a little happier - the extreme heat has actually been retarding growth through July as the plants went into survival mode, so we are delighted to announce that the tomatoes are starting to roll in!

In the Basic Veg Bag this week we have new potatoes, onions, rainbow chard, French beans, curly kale, herbs, courgettes and tomatoes!

In the Bumper Veg Bag we have all that plus green peppers, fresh beetroot and Lettuce.

This week we have been particularly enjoying crunchaliscoious salads with plenty of lettuce, tomato and cucumber and Middle Eastern dips such as baba ganoush and green tahini with tonnes of parsley, garlic and lemon in it.

As July turns to August, Tomato-time is almost upon us! Next week the tomatoes will be hitting the veg scheme for the first time this year - exciting times! The Great Abundance is almost upon us :)

Cyfarchion Tegion!

We hope you are enjoying the sunshine. All this heat and light is making our fruiting crops pop, as well as getting us up and out nice and early every day to beat the heat, especially in the polytunnels which are as hot as Hades if Hades is indeed hot!

The first of our aubergines and tomatoes are now starting to come in, as well as a tidal wave of courgettes ;) We have had to up the scheme portions to a full kilo this week in an attempt to keep up with them.....maybe time for a Lovely Gift to your neighbours?

We actually love courgettes - so versatile and fun! Our favourite recipes are courgette pasta and pesto with white beans, courgette and halloumi fritters and almond and courgette cake with lemon. All bangers! What are your favourite things to do with a courgette or 10?

Cyfarchion Tegion!

As July starts to spin by, we are happy to report that we have completed the spring planting......which is good news because second spring is about to begin ;) As the last of the leeks which were sown in April and will be eaten from November till next April are put into the ground, and the first of the tomatoes are ripening on the vine, we're already locking and reloading in the nursery ready for an enormous autumn plant-out of crops to see us through the winter and early spring. Overwintering kale, purple sprouting broccoli and spring greens are all being sown; and even as we scramble to stay on top of the weeding, we are prepping new ground for these hardy heroes of the winter times!

Year-round veg production at scale really is a feat of forward planning and coordination, but luckily we have been working on it for a while now and have a reasonable idea of what needs to be happening at any given time to ensure the food security of our little community.

And still, the summer crops roll in. In the Basic Veg bag this week we have new potatoes, onions, broad beans, courgettes, french beans, rocket and kale.

In the Bumper Veg bag we have all that plus spring cabbage, cucumber and summer herbs (parsley or basil).

Cyfarchion Tegion. Amser Llysiau!

Our team have pushed through a haze of heat over the last week to keep the veg train rolling :) Below you see the crew hand-weeding the field carrots in a sweaty misama! The rainy weather through May and early June stopped us from getting into the field with hoes in time to avoid this epic task. Swings and roundabouts.....and still the veg rolls in!

In the Basic Veg Bag this week we have potatoes, onions, broccoli, cabbages, broad beans, kale, lettuces and cucumbers.

In the Bumper Veg Bag we have all that plus spicy salad, French beans and courgettes.

Noswaith dda Tegion! Mai Hapus :)

We hope you have been enjoying all this amazing sunshine we've been having. It's the height of the planting season here on the farm, the time of year for all-hands-on-deck relentless rolling out of the crops in high hopes of an abundant season ahead.

This week we have mostly been planting nightshades: plants of the Solanaceae family including potatoes, tomatoes, chillis, aubergines and peppers. Tick-tock till tomato o'clock. Also, many thanks to the volunteers who came to help out on Tuesday - we have a great time and even learnt a traditional Welsh turnip planting song! Next open volunteer day will be Tuesday June 2nd FYI.

The longer warmer days are also bringing delicious treats from across the water in Spain where the stone-fruit season kicks off with zingy, sweet, juicy apricots! We love them and hope you do too.

In the basic veg bag this week we have potatoes, onions, carrots, beetroots, mixed babyleaf lettuce, rainbow chard, spring greens and chinese cabbage.

In the bumper veg bag we have all that plus herbs, courgettes and spring onions. We hear the sizzling of a stir-fry a-frying!

We might have slightly over-ordered sprouting seeds this week which can be found in the fridge and we have reduced the price of them.....they are very good in stir-fries, just so you know ;)
