Ophelia’s story and a huge thank you to Chalkland Vets 🙏❤️.
When Ophelia rabbit came to the Sanctuary in March she was in awful pain. She had an untreated eye ulcer, didn’t want to move, or open her eye. She had immediate vet treatment & pain control.
The eye however didn’t want to heal and an examination from Dr Ida Gilbert Ophthalmologist identified she has congenital abnormalities on her corneas, this is a rabbit that should never have been bred from but this was her life before she came to us 😔.
The amazing vets Ida & Philly and their team at Chalklands tried everything to get the eye to heal over the past 6 months but without success. Faced with the decision of a life of pain, no life or removing the eye, we opted for one last chance of a pain free life.
This little bunny has such a joy and zest for life after her years of suffering, we owed it to her to try .
A couple of weeks ago she had the eye removed and she’s bounced back as good as new 😃🥳👏.
We could not have done it without the support from Chalkland Vets 🤗🤩.
Hopefully now we can bond her with a boyfriend 🐰 and she can have a happy retirement binkying and relaxing 😌.
