Oreno Announces Closure, Effective 30th September 2023
It is with a heavy heart that I announce the closure of Oreno, effective 30th September 2023. This decision was not made lightly, but it is imperative for me to prioritise my health and recover from a back injury sustained earlier this year.
Operating Oreno has been an incredible journey, filled with the joy of serving our amazing customers and collaborating with suppliers and venue organisers. From its inception, Oreno faced significant challenges, launching amidst the COVID-19 outbreak and a shortage of hospitality staff. Throughout this initial phase, the unwavering support of my friends proved invaluable. The Japanese principle of "kaizen," the relentless pursuit of perfection, has been my driving force.
Fortunately, Oreno's closure comes at a time when I can proudly say it reached the pinnacle of its success. We have had the privilege of catering at pop-ups, special dining events, birthdays, corporate gatherings, and weddings. Notably, we competed alongside the country's finest street food vendors at the prestigious British Street Food Awards.
To all my friends who stood by me when I made the challenging decision to change my career path, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. I am deeply appreciative to those who dedicated their time to help with cooking and serving, even during the most challenging sessions, such as the roof melting mishap, extractor fan malfunction, and excessive temperatures during the heat waves. Your unwavering support has been invaluable.
I want to express my sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the funding campaign that enabled me to acquire Bambi, our trusty food truck.
While it saddens me that this journey must come to an end, I hold hope that Oreno may reopen its hatch in the future. In the meantime, I invite you to join us one last time before Saturday 30th September to savour our food and bid farewell to Oreno.
Your continued support has meant the world to me, and I am truly grateful for the memories and experiences we've shared. Thank you for being a part of Oreno's incredible journey.
