Today, we’re proud to share some news that we know would mean the world to our Mum, Sharon. ❤️

After such a difficult time, we are excited to announce that Highway39 Cafe will be opening once again very soon, with an official reopening date to be announced shortly.

Fresh food, local events and more to be expected!

As part of this next chapter, we will also be adding a memorial bench for Sharon, a peaceful place where friends, family, customers and the community can sit, reflect, and remember the incredible woman who touched so many lives.

Thank you all for the love, support, messages and kindness you’ve shown our family. It truly means more than words can say.

Highway39 was never just a café to Mum… it was her dream, her passion, and her way of bringing people together. She loved serving the community, helping others, and creating a place where everyone felt welcome, valued, and at home.

Sharon’s dream lives on. ❤️

Please share to help spread the word 🙏

We would like to let everyone know that all who knew and loved our mum are warmly welcome to attend her funeral and celebrate her life with us.

However, due to limited space at the wake, we unfortunately can't have this as open invite. We have to keep it to family and close friends only.

For those who would still like to come together afterwards, you are very welcome to gather in the Falcon Bar, where we can continue to share memories and celebrate her life.

Thank you all again for your understanding and support ❤️ Sharon Strickley

Popular Cafe Now Available!

Hi all, we wanted to let people know that the café is now available to be taken over (subject to the landlord’s vetting). There will be a goodwill payment to cover equipment and invested costs, and we have strong accounts available from its first full 12 months of operation.

We will be meeting with interested parties on Thursday, so if you would like to meet, view the café, and have a discussion, please send us a message.

Thank you again for all your support.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful Mum, Sharon Strickley.

Our Mum had such a deep love for Otterham and the surrounding areas, and she was so proud to be part of such a supportive and caring community. Her café was more than just a business to her, it was a place filled with warmth, kindness, and the love she gave so freely to everyone who walked through the door.

We will forever be grateful for the support shown to her and the memories she created with so many of you.

With heavy hearts, we also share that, with regret, her children are unable to continue the café. It was truly our mum’s dream, and its success was built from her passion, dedication, and love.

Thank you all for being part of her journey ❤️

If you would like to take on H39 and carry on this wonderful journey, please get in touch.

Hello you lovelies. If anyone really wants to visit, it's getting harder. I see the stress on my children's faces being etched deeply. I can't look at them without hurting. After this weekend, unfortunately, but fairly thing to do. As it's getting harder to talk and be here. They need time with mummy bear. Please fell free to message. If I'm able I will answer. If not I'm sure you understand. I'm being buried at St Olaf's, Poughill. Don't know date lol. X### have a great Easter ###x

It’s a special day — the day my Lord proved His love for us. Thank you, Lord.

Just a little update, and thank you to everyone who has been praying for me — I feel it.

The melanoma is aggressive and has moved like a wicked game of chess. This is not God’s doing — but I trust Him with my life, and I know He will rescue this weary traveller one way or another.

I don’t feel I have long left, and that is devastating. My heart aches most for my husband Paul, my children — Lyndsey, Philip, Keith & Laura — my greatest treasure, and my dear friends.

I hold so much love for my family — my daughter-in-law Jess (a friend for even longer), and Ian, my laugh-buddy son-in-law.

And my wonderful grandchildren: Jacob, Lizzy, Nicole, Leah, Connah, Katie, Joshua, Maisie, Amber, Rebecca, Mia, Noah, and our new little Baba Robyn. Also my granddaughter-in-law Chloe and grandson-in-law Jake, and our precious new great-granddaughter Daisy.

And the café… I love it. The people, the atmosphere, the community — it has meant everything to me. I’m so proud I gave it my all in this last year and a half. You truly are my community.

I believe in a God who loves to connect us. What we’ve had together is special — it’s beautiful.

I’m quite weak now, but please know this — you are all in my heart, and I love you.

I’ll try to write again soon for a little natter.

Have a good weekend. Hold on to what is good. Love each other well. Make the most of every day.

Lorra love,
Sharon ###
