When it’s freezing cold and your whiskers are feeling decidedly icy, a warming bowl of EquiGlo Quick Soak 10 Minute Beet is the perfect answer to beating this chilly winter weather.
Although our horses have their very own central heating system when they ferment fibre in their hindgut, a welcoming warm mash of EquiGlo Beet encourages reluctant drinkers to top up on fluids and provides a big hug in a bucket. Simply soak your beet in hot water for 5 minutes instead of 10 and serve up the fluffy, pure beet flakes in mega-quick time.

Is your horse or pony reluctant to drink in the cold weather? EquiGlo Quick Soak 10 Minute Beet can help to keep them hydrated. Our fabulous, soaked, pure beet flakes are ideal for encouraging water uptake. In the winter, especially, horses can become dehydrated because they drink less water than usual, eat more hay and hard feed, and experience a reduction in forage through grazing less, which can lead to digestive disturbances. EquiGlo’s premium soaked sugar beet is a great way to avoid any issues by increasing and maintaining hydration levels. For maximum effect, soak your beet in hot water to make it more palatable. It might not create much internal heat, but doing so can be a big help with fussy feeders - and when you need to boost hydration.

December is here and the temperatures are getting a little on the cold side. Don’t forget that EquiGlo Quick Soak 10 Minute Beet helps fuel your horse’s very own central heating system, providing a source of heat as the high fibre content is fermented in the hind gut. . .What’s more you can serve our 10 Minute Beet as a comforting warm bowl of deliciousness by soaking it for five minutes in hot water rather than 10 minutes in cold. This is also a great way to encourage reluctant drinkers to keep hydrated in the cold weather.

Could I please ask that if anyone is letting off Fireworks in Oughterby could you please let us know.

Just a text as I was not expecting any to go off so soon.
And certainly didn’t expect them this evening while turning the stallion out.
A little notice would be great please.
Plus my pup has never heard them before and I don’t want him bolting from the farm.

Thank you

In Memory of William John Pedley

On Monday 15th September 2025, Richard and Jessica Pedley, along with their family, kindly donated Will’s gimmer lamb. This Mule lamb had recently been shown very successfully by Will at Barbon Show, making the family tremendously proud of Will’s wonderful stockmanship skills.

The Pedley family are determined that something positive will come from Will’s passing. The lamb was sold to raise awareness and funds for the charity Papyrus (Prevention of Young Su***de), helping them continue their vital work so that other families may be spared the heartbreak the Pedleys are experiencing.

The Mule gimmer lamb was sold in a packed ring at Hawes Auction Mart.

It was first sold for £600, purchased by John Barker, Moffatt.

The £600 was then matched by Hawes Auction Mart and sold again for £600 to John Wood Livestock, Wimborne, Dorset.

The lamb was then sold for £4,200 to a consortium of Northern families and friends, to whom the family are deeply grateful.
Those included:
Will Wildman; Phil & Kat Pye & Family; Ashley & Rachel Caton & Family; Dan Towers; Nick & Charlotte Brown & Family; Ed & Jacqui Waller & Family; Martin & Jenn Whitaker & Family; Chris & Tess Hewitt & Family; Neil & Linda Allan & Family; Stephen Chapman & Nancy Johnson; Allan & Hazel Watson & Family; Will & Gillian Sedgley & Family; Richard & Gail Harker & Family; Mark & Christa Nelson & Family; Richard & Bob Hargreaves; Walker Family at Brennand; Allinson Family; Martin & Val Brown; John James; Jim & Liz Pedley & Family; Steven Thompson & Shirley; Andrew Keiley & Hannah Fawcett; Tom Willoughby; AC & K Pye & Son; Clive & Rebecca Metcalfe; Richard Wilson; Tim, Sarah & Jimbob Dunn; Ian & Valerie Gornall & Family; Fawcett Family at Bishopdale; Staley Family at Kaber; Robin & Rachel Booth & Family; Bell Family at Gill Gate; Gavin White & Family; Paul & Marion Fairburn & Family; Alan, Sue & Gary Lodge; Neil & Mary Marston; Sarah Emmott.

The lamb was then kindly put back up for sale and purchased by a southern consortium of buyers — Tommy Tustian, Henry Tustian, Alan Collett, Dan Branson, Josh Nunnerley, Richard Treadwell, Eddie Bullman, and Conrad Lester — for £2,000. This lamb will be resold next year as a shearling at Rugby Auction in aid of charity.

In total, the lamb raised a remarkable £8,000 plus over £1,000 in donations received in the charity buckets over the two-day sale, a big thank you to everyone for donated and contributed.

The Pedley family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone involved for their incredible generosity and support.
