In Memory of William John Pedley
On Monday 15th September 2025, Richard and Jessica Pedley, along with their family, kindly donated Will’s gimmer lamb. This Mule lamb had recently been shown very successfully by Will at Barbon Show, making the family tremendously proud of Will’s wonderful stockmanship skills.
The Pedley family are determined that something positive will come from Will’s passing. The lamb was sold to raise awareness and funds for the charity Papyrus (Prevention of Young Su***de), helping them continue their vital work so that other families may be spared the heartbreak the Pedleys are experiencing.
The Mule gimmer lamb was sold in a packed ring at Hawes Auction Mart.
It was first sold for £600, purchased by John Barker, Moffatt.
The £600 was then matched by Hawes Auction Mart and sold again for £600 to John Wood Livestock, Wimborne, Dorset.
The lamb was then sold for £4,200 to a consortium of Northern families and friends, to whom the family are deeply grateful.
Those included:
Will Wildman; Phil & Kat Pye & Family; Ashley & Rachel Caton & Family; Dan Towers; Nick & Charlotte Brown & Family; Ed & Jacqui Waller & Family; Martin & Jenn Whitaker & Family; Chris & Tess Hewitt & Family; Neil & Linda Allan & Family; Stephen Chapman & Nancy Johnson; Allan & Hazel Watson & Family; Will & Gillian Sedgley & Family; Richard & Gail Harker & Family; Mark & Christa Nelson & Family; Richard & Bob Hargreaves; Walker Family at Brennand; Allinson Family; Martin & Val Brown; John James; Jim & Liz Pedley & Family; Steven Thompson & Shirley; Andrew Keiley & Hannah Fawcett; Tom Willoughby; AC & K Pye & Son; Clive & Rebecca Metcalfe; Richard Wilson; Tim, Sarah & Jimbob Dunn; Ian & Valerie Gornall & Family; Fawcett Family at Bishopdale; Staley Family at Kaber; Robin & Rachel Booth & Family; Bell Family at Gill Gate; Gavin White & Family; Paul & Marion Fairburn & Family; Alan, Sue & Gary Lodge; Neil & Mary Marston; Sarah Emmott.
The lamb was then kindly put back up for sale and purchased by a southern consortium of buyers — Tommy Tustian, Henry Tustian, Alan Collett, Dan Branson, Josh Nunnerley, Richard Treadwell, Eddie Bullman, and Conrad Lester — for £2,000. This lamb will be resold next year as a shearling at Rugby Auction in aid of charity.
In total, the lamb raised a remarkable £8,000 plus over £1,000 in donations received in the charity buckets over the two-day sale, a big thank you to everyone for donated and contributed.
The Pedley family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone involved for their incredible generosity and support.
