This is our favourite red cow sired by Mochrum Huckleberry and its spring 2026 calf by Budawang Xavier.
The great news this week is that the cow is in calf again to the same sire.
2/3 of the first AI batch were in calf so the new smaXtec system seems to be working. 🤞

Time to start mowing as a weather window opens.
We used an On Trak basic satnav system which works with a phone App. The purpose was to make breaks parallel to each other and avoid endless triangular butts.
Found it on face book at sensible money, will make tedding easier too.

Well done England getting a few in the net today …….and we did too🤣 Green harvest started today with a trial field to set up our new to us baler and wrapper combo. We managed to miss the rain. Let’s see how the Belties like chopped silage!

We have calves in every colour this year!

We had a morning of sorting out groups of cattle as calving is coming to a close.
Here are 6 heifers going to the bull next month.

One of our younger cows left a solid bull calf with a great belt yesterday.

This marks a milestone for the Brightenflatt herd as it is our 200th calf!

Introducing Bowland Barbarian, our new stock bull courtesy Robbie and Hannah at Crane Wood Farm, thank you so much!
His pedigree fits our plans and includes Coulmony Blair who we so admired. Hopefully he will make his mark👍
