Just to let you all know that we will be closed this coming Saturday 17th October, due to the death of a close member of our family. Hopefully we’ll see our regular Saturday customers on Friday 16th instead - we’re open that day until 4pm. Back open as usual Monday 19th. Rydyn ni am roi gwybod i chi bydd y siop ar gau y dydd Sadwrn hwn, Hydref 17eg, o ganlyniad i farwolaeth aelod agos o’n teulu. Bwyd newydd yn y siop! SHATTA! Meaning hot pepper in Arabic, this is a hugely popular chilli condiment used across the Levant and the Middle East. Found on tables across these regions, it’s excellent with hummus, falafels, grilled meats and roasted vegetables. Great for us to have this Palestinian 🇵🇸 version in stock from the excellent Fil | Palestinian Shatta - we sure do love a hit of chilli 🌶️

It’s been a while since we’ve had a chance to post anything on here - it’s been a busy summer 😅

Meet Zuzy! The latest addition to our team, and she’s taken to it like a duck (smoked, obviously, with caramelised onions) to water.

As is the standard for our new recruits, she’s holding a lovely big chunk of cheese, this time it’s Trethowan Brothers’ Pitchfork Cheddar. One of our favourites.

Lots of busyness in the coming months with new w**es and cheeses coming in. Plenty of filled baguettes each day as well as our Myrddin Heritage sausage rolls and the usual savoury tarts.

The phrase ‘family business’ gets used a lot 😂 but here’s the reality. Our eldest, snapped during her first paid shift at the shop (holding a Trethowan Brothers Gorwydd Caerphilly). After 15 years of eating and learning about the foods we sell she’s easy to train up! The next generation moves in. About bloody time too 😊 Diolch Ana! Spend your 80p an hour wisely 😉😘
