Letter: Sue Burger says thousands of UK beekeepers are producing honey that is better for the environment than products flown in from the southern hemisphere

Very well deserved. Nicola has been a pioneer for sustainable beekeeping both internationally and in the UK.

Today we celebrate our wonderful founder, Dr Nicola Bradbear who has been awarded an MBE for services to biodiversity.

For more than 35 years, Nicola, has dedicated her life to sharing her expertise on the benefits of bees for sustainability and for helping to improve the lives of some of the most impoverished communities in the world.

Since Bees for Development was formed in 1993, Nicola has worked tirelessly to grow the charity and get people to recognise the rich and powerful benefits of bees and beekeeping – income for poor families, pollination services, biodiversity conservation and an economic incentive for forest maintenance. It is an utterly compelling story and one she has now been recognised for on the highest level.

Congratulations, Nicola! Your MBE is very much deserved and all the team at Bees for Development are very proud of you.
