Apparently, the wasps got the memo…..😂

After cutting some honeycomb today, I put the leftover bits onto a sheet of baking paper and it didn't take long for the wasps to find it! 🐝🍯

They absolutely LOVE honey (even more than me), and this lot clearly weren't going to waste any time helping themselves 😂

SOLD OUT IN LESS THAN A WEEK! 🍯🐝

Our Pentremeurig honey has completely flown off the shelves! 😱🍯

It was sold in less than one week - thank you so much to everyone who bought a jar and supported our little family business 💛

But don’t worry…..we’ve been busy in the apiary today 🐝

We’ve taken more supers off the hives and tomorrow we’ll be extracting the next batch of our delicious single-origin Welsh honey 🍯

If you don’t want to miss out this time, keep an eye on our page because it won’t be long before the next batch is ready!

A week of exploring our own backyard 🌊

Me and Emyr are both off on annual leave for a week 🥰

We’re not going away this time…..because honestly, when you have good weather and you live in a part of the world with some of the most beautiful coastlines, countryside and little hidden gems around, why would we? 🌊

So we’ve decided to spend our week exploring what’s right on our doorstep and, wherever we can, putting a little back into our wonderful local economy.

And this is where we need YOUR recommendations! 👇

We’re looking for ideas across Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire & Swansea…..

🌊 Beautiful beaches & coastal walks
🐬 Wildlife & nature watching
🚤 Rib rides & boat trips
🌿 Hidden gems & places we might not have discovered
🏰 Things to see & places to visit
🍽️ Great places to eat
🦐 And somewhere Emyr can get his hands on some really good fresh local seafood!

As for me…..I have a terrible sweet tooth, so I’ll be looking for the best cakes, ice creams, desserts and sweet treats! 🍦🍰 🤭

Basically, we want to eat, explore, enjoy the scenery and discover some of the fantastic small businesses and places that make this part of Wales so special ❤️

You can clearly spot the queen with her little green crown in the middle of the photo 💚 👑 🐝

But can you spot the drones? 👀

The drones are the male honey bees, and once you know what to look for, they really stand out.

They’re much bigger and chunkier than the workers 💪

They have those huge, unmistakable eyes 👀

And they don’t have a stinger so they simply cannot sting you 🚫

So, have a good look…..

Meet the other kind of drone…..🐝

No lights.
No spectacular formations.
No music.

Just a rather handsome male honey bee 💛

In the bee world, male honey bees are called drones.

And unlike their female sisters, drones don’t collect nectar, make honey or build the comb. Their main job is to mate with a queen 👑 🐝

So while the drones at the show were putting on a spectacular display in the sky…..our drones have a very different kind of job! 😂

Nobody tells you this when you become a beekeeper…...😂

You start with a couple of hives, and before you know it, the bees have taken over the garden, the shed, the kitchen table, the spare room and quite possibly your entire life! 🤣

There are frames to clean, equipment to wash, bees to check, honey to extract, jars to fill and ALWAYS something that needs doing.

And somehow, despite all of that…..we absolutely love it 🐝 💛 🐝

Because then you stand there and watch thousands of tiny creatures working together, and remember exactly why you started 💛

What hobby has completely taken over your life? 😂👇
