Big thank you to Gill Calderdale Countryside and Woodlands Team who put a lot of hard work into developing and sharing a method for growing sphagnum which is now being used more widely. Thanks for being so generous with your time and experience.

Kingsdale Head Farm are restoring damaged peatland on their 607-hectare former sheep farm, supported by our Rewilding Innovation Fund 🌱

The Fund has helped Kingsdale to grow and transplant native sphagnum mosses which drive a lot of the processes on blanket bogs, including peat formations.

It’s allowed them to transform their old sheep barn into a sphagnum growing space and get support from The Yorkshire Peat Partnership to help with collecting moss from other sites.
