Next Tuesday 6th October @ 7.30pm, Camowen Meeting Milestone Centre Carrickmore in conjunction with Ulster Farmers Union Omagh Branch , Speaker Ruth Po***ck , Topic The new Nitrates Action Programme (NAP), this will have a major impact on many farms INCLUDING IMPORTERS. The days of paper acres are over, importers taking in high Phosphorous manures must have a fertilisation plan in place to ensure their lands can take it. These issues cannot be left until January it is now time to plan and this presentation will be very beneficial for both producers and importers. EVERYONE WELCOME

Fantastic to see over 80 people attending the Poultry meeting in Milestone Centre last night. An excellent presentation by Pat O'Sullivan from Soilworx. The main lesson from the meeting was layer manure is a valuable fertiliser, however it can only be spread on low Phosphorous soils, to export to a processor will be costly in terms of transport and gate fees. The meeting has sparked an enthusiasm in the producers to try to find new ways of disposal of hen manure.
Camowen Farmers are reaching out to other processors close to home to investigate easier routes of disposal. In the mean time poultry producers should seek importers now well in advance of nitrates time in January to prepare fertilisation plans for their farm and encourage the importer to complete same and avoid penalties in the future

If you are thinking of applying to the new Farm Business Improvement Scheme and would like an Agent to do so on your behalf then you must grant us authority to do so.

As this is a new scheme, we do not have automatic access to do this for you.

This can be done through your government gateway, going to your customer portal and adding the Farm Business Improvement Scheme as an additional service to your current agents provided services.

Bit of a nuisance I know, not a big problem but if you donโ€™t already have a gateway in place this will be where the trouble starts.

Even if you wish to apply on your own, it still has to be done through the government gateway process so if you are thinking of applying for the scheme, whether on your own or through your agent and you donโ€™t have a gateway in place then you must take action now as time is ticking on.

A gateway can be set up fairly quickly be visiting your local DAERA office. Bring a form of ID, your business Id and access to your emails and the staff will get you sorted. ๐Ÿ‘

Application deadline is the 3rd of September.
