Modern Apprenticeship

𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞 🐄 Do you want to work in Agriculture? Not sure where to start? We have an opportunity for a young person on a dairy and beef farm in the Dumfries area. As a Modern Apprentice in Agriculture, you will be employed within the Agricultural sector and study part-time to reach the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) standards. You will cover various topics and complete on-farm assessments to show competence in specific tasks. 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒: 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬-𝐎𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 🦺 As it is Farm Safety Week 2024, we are excited to highlight the importance of safety in agriculture and share our recent efforts to ensure our Pre-Apprentices are well-prepared for the challenges they may face. Over the past four weeks, we have been dedicated to providing comprehensive tractor training to our pre-apprentices, ensuring they understand both the operational and safety aspects of handling this vital piece of farm equipment. 🚜 The training program focused on: 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬: Teaching the basics of driving, maneuvering, and maintaining tractors. 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐬: Emphasizing the importance of safety measures, including proper use of protective gear, understanding blind spots, and safe hitching techniques. 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬-𝐎𝐧 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: Allowing Pre-Apprentices to practice in real-world scenarios, building their confidence and competence. 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 🎉 This training would not have been possible without the generous support of several companies who supplied us with the tractors and equipment necessary for effective learning. 🌾🚜 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐎𝐮𝐭! 🚜🌾 Last Wednesday we had a fantastic day in the Borders with the Borders Machinery Ring (BMR) students! The visit provided a great opportunity for Tarff Services and BMR students to meet and was an excellent chance for our students to see a different way of farming. The students visited two mixed farms, learning about crop production, livestock management, and sustainable farming practices. Their enthusiasm and curiosity were inspiring, making the day both educational and enjoyable. 🌟 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐔𝐩: 𝐃𝐮𝐦𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 & 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐲! 🌟 We're thrilled to announce our next adventure—visiting a dairy farm in Dumfries & Galloway with the BMR group!
