Sulwath Brewery

Sulwath Brewery 30 Years of Crafting Excellence
Scotland’s Original Southerly Brewery - Built to Last. Est. 1995

Do you have a demanding clientele who insist on prompt and courteous service and a product that is unique or exceptional? Both your own and our aims at Sulwath are probably similar in respect. Our real ales are hand crafted with the local palate in mind, and to exacting standards

We take great pride in the production of our products which are brewed traditionally, with no concentrates, colourings

or extract and with accent on the taste of yesteryear. When was the last time you savoured the aroma of a mass produced beer, or tasted its wholesome natural flavour? We are open Monday-Saturday from 10am-6pm off-sales, & 11am-6pm on-sales.

This one means a bit more.

Our Beer Festival is back at the brewery — and it’s set to be our biggest one yet.

📍 Sulwath Brewers, Castle Douglas
📅 Saturday 23rd May 2026

After everything over the past year, this feels like the first proper chance to get everyone together again and do it right.

We’ll be open as usual from 10am, with beer pouring from 11am.
Expect a full bar, a few things you won’t have seen for a while, burgers on all day, and an extra bar outside to keep things flowing.

If you’ve been in over the last few months — you’ll know.
If you haven’t — this is the day to come down.

More to follow soon.

A cask that’s done the rounds.

Ooshka Sour was aged in a whisky barrel from our good friends at Moffat Distillery. Once the beer was bottled, the cask went back to them — and they’ve since filled it with their own whisky.

Same cask. Two different stories.

The beer brings bright, sharp acidity with a subtle oak character from its time in wood. The whisky carries that journey on in its own way.

A proper local collaboration, start to finish.

Slàinte.

Love seeing Sulwath beer back where it belongs 🍻

Brilliant selection from Sulwath Brewery now pouring at Paul Jones Hotel — Moffat Toffee, Galloway Gold & The Grace 🙌🏼

If you’re nearby, definitely worth popping in for one (or two!)

We’ve been asked by Irving’s family to share this notice with our patrons and friends. As many of you know, the tap room was one of Irving’s favorite spots, and he was certainly one of our favorite people.

Funeral Details:
• Location: Roucan Loch Crematorium
• Date: Wednesday, 6th May
• Time: 12:00 Noon
The family has requested family flowers only. If you wish to make a gesture in Irving's memory, donations can be made at the service to the Alexandra Unit at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary, where he was so well cared for.

They say every great brewery has a soul, and for a long time, Irving Boyes was a big part of ours. A friend, a character, and a man who knew the value of a good pint and better company.

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Irving Maxwell Boyes. To some, he was a neighbor from Springholm; to his family, he was a devoted Dad and "Papa Irv." To us, he was the heart of the Tap Room.
Irving reminded us why we do what we do—bringing people together. It was a privilege to serve him and an even greater honor to call him a friend.
We invite all who knew him to join us in raising a glass to his memory. He will be missed, but certainly never forgotten.
