Chapelton Farm Pedigree Aberdeen Angus and Beef Shorthorn cattle bred with a focus on high performance, superior health, and efficiency of production.

Chapelton is a family run grassland farm near Castle Douglas in South West Scotland and home of the Chapelton Beef Shorthorn and Aberdeen Angus herds each consisting of 75 pedigree cows. We also run 250 cross-bred commercial cows which are bred from retained stock sires. Those who joined us on Thursday for the Aberdeen-Angus Commercial Open Evening were the first to see how we are reimagining Estimated Breeding Values.

Chapelton Viator is one of our Beef Shorthorn sale bulls, and his EBVs are shown below in both graphs. We love the radar chart because it shows his figures relative to the breed average on the scale of our own herd.

This is just one of the ways we are using data to help identify our most profitable cows, and to breed better progeny for ourselves and our customers.

General Farm Worker Position

- Position Filled -

Mixed Beef Farm with 400 suckler cows near Castle Douglas. Modern fleet of machinery based around Claas and JCB.

We are looking for a reliable and competent all rounder to join our hard working team.

The role is mainly tractor work, but will include some livestock work at busy times and general farm maintenance.

We are looking for someone who has experience with modern farm machinery and a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
Some experience with livestock would be advantageous.

A recently refurbished 3 bedroom family house is available with the position, which is close to a well regarded primary school.
