WE ONLY WENT AND BLOOMIN’ WON.🏆

As you know our little yellow shop is not a deli in a traditional sense. Rather a proper modern Aladdin’s cave of epic independent food brands and foodie related gifts.

We were up against some such amazing delis and are so proud that this little corner of retail goodness in Southsea has made its mark. Prouder than punch!

This is for Lou and Martyn who work every day to make the shop what it is (and a bit for me for doing all the sourcing!)

We are so very excited to say that we won the muddy stilettos - not just one category but BOTH of our businesses.

PS…. It’s actually been a mega week for us as our licence application has also been granted. So in the nearish future we’ll be expanding what we do and offering late lunch and early evenings (with wine and banging espresso martinis). WATCH THIS SPACE.

Martyn is off to the House of Commons today with a group of other business leaders representing hospitality to speak to the business minister about the issues facing our sector.

As such the local will be closed today (Monday) as Tara in the kitchen at Southsea Coffee covering holiday so apologies to anyone coming down.

Three years of the tiny yellow shop today... It's OUR BIRTHDAY!

👉which also means 13 years of the pink OG tomorrow🤯…. Yes. The Local turns 3 today and Southsea Coffee turns 13 tomorrow... two little indie businesses, ten years apart, both built with a lot of graft, a lot of love, and a very big amount of “surely we can make this work?”

To make the birthday week even better, the new edition of Southsea Folk has just landed, with our two shops sitting side by side in print. The pink one and the yellow one. Looking pretty damn iconic if you ask me 😉.

We’re ALSO finalists in the Muddy Stilettos Awards - Southsea Coffee for Best Café and Southsea Local for Best Deli/Farm Shop which still feels a bit mad and very lovely.

Peak season veg is BACK.

Yes, I have my own allotment. No, it is not currently providing those green beans from last year. (Yet).

But the hope is real because seasonal veg is starting to return and quite frankly, we are ready.

As you know, our shop is tiny.

Very cute, very full, very much “how have we fitted this much in here?”... SO we only stock fresh veg through spring, summer and early autumn because even we can’t quite cram a full greengrocer into Southsea Local.

But when the good stuff starts coming in?

We are ALL. OVER. IT.
