What a pairing! 🦪🥂

Katie from the Maldon Oysters team popped over to the wine estate and was very spoilt, enjoying a lovely afternoon on the terrace tasting a pairing of oysters with Crouch Ridge Blanc de Blancs Brut from the Crouch Valley. Grown and made just a stone’s throw from the oyster beds.

The fresh, citrusy, light English sparkling wine was the perfect complement to the creamy, briny oysters. 🦪✨ We recommend!

This is what summer is all about. ☀️😎

Ever wondered how to tell if an oyster is safe to eat? 🦪

We check every single oyster by hand before it’s packed, but it’s always good to know what to look out for when your box arrives.

Here, Brian shows you how to check your oysters before you tuck in. 🦪

📕📚 Happy Book Lovers Day!

Today we’re celebrating with a little handful of our favourite oyster & seafood books. 🦪

From the history and culture of oysters to recipes, coastal stories and everything in between, there’s something rather lovely about discovering the world of oysters through a good book.

What’s your favourite seafood or oyster book? 📖🦪

Happy National Oyster Day Day!

We never miss an excuse to celebrate oysters and to do it in style, here is one of our team, Katie, sharing a fact that you may not know about oysters.

Have you ever wondered why oysters from one coastline taste different from another? Or why the same grape variety can produce completely different wines depending on where it’s grown?

That’s the magic of merroir and terroir.

We caught up with Matthew from for the first part of a series of videos which will explore how the unique climate and landscape of the Crouch Valley and Maldon shape the character of his wines—and how that mirrors the way our oysters are influenced by the waters of the Blackwater Estuary.

Just as the land tells the story of a wine, the sea tells the story of an oyster.

Have you ever tasted the difference? 🍷🦪

Multiple pills a day, or just eat an oyster? 👌

Packed with zinc, B vitamins, omega-3s, iron, iodine, selenium, high-quality protein and many many more benefits, oysters are one of nature’s most nutrient-dense foods.

Real food. Real nutrition. It really can be that simple.

What a fantastic couple of days we’ve had in London at the 56th SAGB Annual Conference and Dinner, held at the magnificent Fishmongers’ Hall and The Crown Estate building.

We had the privilege of listening to an inspiring line-up of speakers, discussing the future of our industry, sustainability, innovation and the importance of championing British seafood. We came away with our minds buzzing with new ideas and a renewed sense of purpose.

There were some particularly interesting and positive presentations, including Lewis Le Vay introducing the Regenerative Aquaculture Forum, and Rod Wilson and Robert Ellis from the University of Exeter delivering an update on the UK Sustainable King Prawn Project.

We’re incredibly proud to be part of such a passionate, resilient and forward-thinking industry. It was an honour to attend this year’s conference.
