Tivoli Wines

An award-winning independent wine merchant situated in the heart of Cheltenham. It became Tivoli Wines in 2010 before David and Helen Dodd took over in 2016.

Tivoli Wines is an online and retail wine store based in the picturesque regency town of Cheltenham on the edge of the Cotswold Hills. There's been a wine shop at 56 Andover Road since the 1980s, and our Tina has been here more than half of that time. We believe in Quality, Value and Education. We refuse to sell wine of substandard quality; supermarkets exist to fulfil that purpose, and all of our

wines are tasted by the team before they hit the shelves. Value doesn't mean just paying as little as possible, it means getting the best quality wine possible for the money you want to spend. Most importantly, we want to educate our customers so that they can buy better. In November 2017, we opened The Wine Library above our shop in Cheltenham, offering 32 wines from Enomatic tasting machines and a further number of iconic fine wines including Chateau d'Yquem and Penfolds Grange from Coravin, so that customers can learn more about wine and their own tastes.

🍷 July Tastings Are Now Live 🍷

We’ve got two brilliant tastings lined up this July, each taking you somewhere a little different.

First up, we’re heading to the darker side of summer drinking with Dark Rosé & Chilled Reds — a tasting dedicated to deeper-hued rosés, lighter-bodied reds, and the kind of bottles that come alive with a gentle chill. Perfect for long evenings, warm weather, and anyone looking beyond the usual crisp whites and pale pinks.

Then we’re diving into the world of BLANKBottle, one of South Africa’s most exciting cult producers. Join us for a producer-focused tasting exploring Pieter Walser’s brilliant Western Cape project, full of creativity, character, and seriously good wine.

☀️ WEEKEND OFFER ☀️

Soalheiro, Portugal’s Alvarinho icons, have crafted this beautiful single variety Vinho Verde from the Loureiro grape. Alma speaks purely of its terroir, drawing freshness from the Atlantic, character from the granite soils, and concentration from the low-yielding vines grown in Monção and Melgaço.

Precise and focused, the nose bursts with floral lift – orange blossom and jasmine – layered with fresh green apple, pear, and lemon-lime zest. The palate is crisp and finely textured, balancing zingy acidity with subtle fruit sweetness. Alma is long and refreshing, with a mouth‑watering, sea‑breeze finish. Perfect for the glorious weather we have forecast!

We pick 5 wines to taste, open a couple of bottles of each, giving you a less formal tasting of them upstairs in The Wine Library.

These events start at 2pm, lasting around an hour. There’s usually a theme, be it new wines, forgotten favourites, a single grape variety, or whatever the weather dictates!
