For the past 10 years we’ve insured EVERYTHING with NFU Mutual. Our land, our buildings, our livestock, our feedstock, our home, our caravan, our van…. Everything.
We have cover for our working dogs in the policy too but apparently it will not cover Joys vet fees now 😢
They would cover someone else’s dogs vet fees if our cows hurt them or they would cover Joys vet fees if it was someone else’s cow that hurt her. They just won’t cover our cow injuring our dog. Which seems mad for a working dog cover.

I don’t expect anyone to help, but if you want to we are hugely grateful 🥰 an unexpected £6000 bill is scary 😢 and we just wanted to do right by our girl and give her the best outcome 🧡

We’ve used Nic UK for our ice cream ingredients since we started when they were still known as Marcantonio. We still remember Remo visiting us at the very beginning of our ice cream journey and helping us to get started.

We pay over £700 a month for our farm business insurance which includes working dogs, but not for injuries caused by our own cows apparently. On the few occasions we’ve tried to make a claim in the last 10 years we’ve been told it doesn’t actually cover that particular scenario but we could add it as an additional cover to your policy 🙄
In 10 years £700 a month feels like a lot of wasted money!

We are now trying to find the money to cover this vet bill and looking for alternative insurance providers!

Joy Update 🐕

Monday was 2 weeks post op and a big day. A visit to the vets to have stitches out and then the 3x5 minute walks each day could begin. We didn’t manage all 3 walks Monday though, one of us had to have some happy pills before the vets so needed an extra nap 😴🙄

We’ve been truly overwhelmed by the support shown this weekend 🥰
I hadn’t expected so may people to give donations and we are so so grateful to those who have. What a lovely community we live in 🧡
Today’s the first goalpost in Joys 3 month recovery, stitches are being removed which means hopefully she won’t have to wear her cone of shame anymore. And all being well after the stitches are out she can now have 3x5 minute walks a day! 🥳
