A sheep dog is a farmer’s best friend 💕
We would be lost without our sheep dogs Pip & Rex. Last night we crossed 80 cows across the road with the help of these two. It’s just us two on the farm (Hollie & George) with no staff so we are very lucky to have good dogs who help us get the job done. Not only are they both good at their job, they both love it! Their favourite place to be is sat on the quad bike 😎 .

The cows & calves don’t seem to mind this hot weather, the long meadow grass helps them to keep cool. Here are some of our calves including ‘Twinkle’, our first calf born on the farm #01. They are only 6 weeks old but are doing really well from suckling on their Mum’s. 🐮

Today we had our initial food hygiene inspection after opening our new farm shop. We are pleased (and relieved!) that we passed & were given a 5 star rating 🌟

Our pop up farm shop was also open today- so it’s been a busy one!
Thank you to everyone who came down to support our small farm, we really appreciate it. Please keep spreading the word about our new venture🙌
We will be open again tomorrow 10-4pm so it would be great to see you there. We have plenty of grassfed beef, new local cheeses, free range eggs, Bidlea milk, traditional butter & icecream. Plus freshly picked Cheshire new potatoes, local wildflower honey and a variety of Mrs Darlington’s products e.g jams, chutneys, marmalade & relishes.

Longhorn cows are just so photogenic 💁‍♀️ ☀️
This is Xcella and her calf, who some of you met at our farm shop two weeks ago. We have now moved them to join the rest of the herd. This weekend we will have some other farmyard friends for you to meet in the paddock near the farm shop. As we know that children and adults love to see them when you visit.
This is the beauty of having a ‘proper’ farm shop, set right on our working farm.

When the evening cow check turns into a photoshoot…. 📷 🐮
This is our suckler herd of cows, we’ve reared the cows since they were calves so they are friendly, including Pam, Sue & Piebald. The cows stay with their calves and they are moved everyday to a fresh section of grass. We are both very proud of our herd which we have built up together over the years. It’s lovely to see them out in a meadow field full of grass, what is known as ‘farming with nature’. 🌱 🌺

George’s first drive of his ‘new’ tractor after it has been in the workshop for a few months🚜 🔧
Today we have had a lovely day at a charity run in remembrance of a family member. George took part in the tractor run along with Hollie’s Dad & brother Joe in a fleet of over 80 tractors. Tractor runs are a great way to bring farmers together, taking time off the farm and is a great opportunity to raise money for charity. We were pleased that the tractor completed its first trip with no hiccups, this tractor will be used as a second tractor in the winter for bedding & feeding cows.

Did anyone spot the tractor run from Wettenhall today? 🚜 👀
