Great to have our customers featured in the latest issue of Cow Management.

David and Nicola Waugh based in Scotland share how genomic testing has helped transform their herd and future-proof their dairy business. By combining genomic testing, AI and a clear breeding strategy, they have improved production, efficiency, herd health and fertility, while building a more uniform and profitable herd.

Working closely with our team, the farm has taken a long-term approach to genetic improvement, achieving impressive gains in milk yield and solids while reducing concentrate use and improving overall cow performance.

A fantastic example of how genomics can help farmers make more informed breeding decisions and accelerate progress towards their herd goals.

Consistency from conception through to production!

These three Genosource Illusion calves at Sypland Farm in south west Scotland are a great example of why Illusion continues to impress on farms across the country.

Customers using Illusion consistently report strong conception rates, calves that are full of life and grow on well, and now we're beginning to see his daughters enter the milking herd and deliver in the parlour too. For breeders looking for reliability at every stage, Illusion is proving to be a bull that gets the job done.

As a proven sire, Illusion combines over 1,000kg of milk with +38.3kg fat, +32.4kg protein and a ยฃPLI of 544. It's easy to see why he is becoming a popular choice for commercial dairy herds focused on profitability and efficiency.

From calf pen to milking parlour, Illusion is delivering the consistency modern dairy farms need. Learn more on: https://cogentuk.com/dairy/holstein/119703

It was a pleasure to welcome farmer customers from LLM Vets to our stud on Thursday.

The visit provided an opportunity to explore how genomic data can be used to support herd objectives, improve decision making and drive long term profitability. We also discussed the value of integrating a strategic Beef on Dairy programme and how it can help maximise returns from the dairy herd.

Guests were given a behind the scenes look at our industry leading laboratory and bull stud facilities, showcasing the technology, expertise and genetics that underpin our breeding programmes.

The day also included a visit to Grosvenor Farms, where attendees could see these breeding and management strategies in action within a progressive commercial dairy system. Seeing how genomics, genetics and Beef on Dairy are applied on farm helped bring the discussions to life and demonstrated the practical impact they can have on herd performance and profitability.

Thank you to everyone who attended. We enjoyed sharing ideas, discussing breeding strategies and showcasing how genetics and genomics can help shape the future of profitable dairy farming.

That's a wrap on our 2026 Business Update.

It has been fantastic to bring the Cogent team together this week to learn, share ideas and look ahead to the opportunities and challenges facing our industry.

We heard from a range of inspiring speakers, including Grant Hartman, Chairman of the Mรผller Milk Group, Brian Behnke from STgenetics, and adventurer Oli France, whose journey from Death Valley to Denali provided valuable lessons in resilience, determination and mindset.

Alongside updates from across the business, we explored the insights, innovations and opportunities that will help shape the future of cattle breeding over the next 12 months and beyond. The event also gave us the opportunity to support a fantastic cause through our charity auction, raising a total of ยฃ5630 for Cancer Research UK.

Importantly, it was a chance to celebrate the progress we've made together, learn from one another, and refocus on how we can continue supporting our customers and driving genetic progress into the future.

Robotic milking can transform efficiency, but are you breeding cows that are truly suited to the system?

The most successful robotic herds aren't built around cows that simply produce milk. They're built around cows that attach easily, move willingly, milk efficiently and make the best use of robot capacity day after day.

That's why robot suitability is becoming an increasingly important consideration in breeding decisions.

In our latest article, we take a closer look at the traits that contribute to robotic milking performance and explore how the Robotic Cow Index (RCI) is helping farmers identify genetics that are better suited to automated systems.

Through a focused breeding strategy, the herd is delivering the constituents, efficiency and functionality needed to support their premium ice cream business.

The feature explores how genomic testing, chromosomal mating and data-driven breeding decisions are helping shape a herd that is fit for the future and aligned with the farm's long-term goals.

A fantastic example of breeding with purpose and making genetic progress count.
