Autumn Laminitis?🍂

Owners are often taken by surprise at this time of year as our horse’s fields start to look less green and a little tired. But actually the laminitis risk can be higher due to the combination of warm sunny days and cool nights, which can lead to higher sugar levels in the grass.

We’ve put together a few pointers and things to look out for with your horses. But if you’re at all worried, please contact your vet for advice!

Oslo Horse Show!🇳🇴

Mason Allen from our team at Thomas Irving’s has just returned from his 4th appearance at the Agria Oslo Horse Show, representing England in Mounted Games! The team arrived on the back of 3 previous wins at the show!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

The standard was incredibly high this year, with Sweden having four riders who finished 2nd at the European Championships this summer, and a very strong Norwegian team competing in front of their home crowd.

As the English riders kindly borrow Norwegian ponies, they have to adapt quickly to horses they’ve never ridden before. Mason has now ridden five different ponies across his four appearances in Oslo! Saturday brought a few hiccups as the team got used to their horses, but they came back fighting on Sunday to win the final by 5 points! This put England back into 2nd place overall, just 2 points behind Norway!🤩

Of course, Thomas Irving’s mascot, Daphne the donkey, came along for the adventure too… take a look at the photos of her enjoying the show!🫏

Mounted Games hopes to return to Oslo next year, and Mason aims to be back with Team England to reclaim the title! Well done to Mason and the whole team!👏
