Meet Delkin 😄

Today we’re introducing you to someone who has become a really valued part of the Happy’s Chippy family — Delkin.
Delkin first came into Happy’s as a customer, and over time we got talking about the charity work he was involved in. It quickly became clear that his values really aligned with ours. At Happy’s, we’ve always believed that being part of the local community is about more than just serving good food. It’s about looking after people, giving back, supporting those who need it and doing whatever we can to make a positive difference.
That’s something we saw in Delkin from the very beginning.
A few months ago, Delkin joined the team and he has been an absolute pleasure to have around. He has never caused me a problem, comes in, works incredibly hard and is always willing to learn. He has a really strong work ethic and you can tell he genuinely wants to improve and do well.
Delkin is also a real family man. You can see the love and pride he has for his family, and that same character comes across in the way he treats people.
Outside of work, Delkin said: “I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I’m a die-hard Chesterfield fan and I enjoy going to the gym.”
Powerlifting is a huge passion for Delkin, and earlier this year he competed in his first powerlifting competition, where he set a British record on the bench press. He has also recently been invited to represent Team GB at the Powerlifting World Championships in Poland.
For someone competing at that level, his mindset is exactly what you would expect.
“I enjoy challenging myself,” Delkin said. “I want to continue improving, set more records and eventually get a big sponsorship through powerlifting.”
But what really stands out about Delkin is that his desire to challenge himself isn’t just about sport. He also uses these challenges to raise money and awareness for charities.
In 2024, Delkin walked 75 miles in one month to raise money and awareness for Dementia UK. Then, in 2026, he pushed himself even further, walking 150 miles in a month to raise money and awareness for Andy’s Man Club, a men’s mental health charity providing free support for men over the age of 18.
Delkin said: “I enjoy challenging myself to different things, but I also want those challenges to have a purpose and help raise money and awareness for charities.”
It’s one of the reasons why Delkin fits so well into what we’re trying to build at Happy’s.
When we asked him what he enjoys most about working here, he said: “The people I work with and seeing the positive impact it has on the local community.”
From our litter picking to giving people in need free food on Christmas Day, these are the things that mean a lot to us as a business. We want Happy’s to be somewhere that genuinely contributes to the community, and it’s great to have people like Delkin who share those values.
One person Delkin particularly wanted to mention was Happy’s dad, Dhillon.
“He’s one of the most kind-hearted, down-to-earth men I have ever met,” Delkin said. “He works so hard in the shop doing things that many people would never know about, from making sure all the chips are sorted and fresh every day to fixing anything that goes wrong.”
That’s something we really appreciate because so much of what goes on behind the scenes at Happy’s often goes unnoticed.
Delkin also enjoys meeting our customers.
“I really enjoy meeting all the customers that come in, learning about their hobbies, work and just life in general. It helps me improve my communication skills for the future.”
And looking ahead, Delkin has big ambitions.
He wants to continue competing in powerlifting, set more records, secure a major sponsorship, support charities and keep challenging himself. Eventually, he hopes to work in the construction industry.
For us, Delkin is a brilliant example of what Happy’s is about — hard work, kindness, community and always trying to do something positive for others.
We’re genuinely proud to have him as part of the team.
