Yet again, another unplanned power cut affecting Burton Farm Shop and many other small businesses in our area.

How are local businesses expected to operate when the power is off for hours on end? During this heatwave, freezers are defrosting, chilled products are warming up, and fresh stock may have to be thrown away. The financial impact is significant, but so is the disruption to our customers and community.

We understand faults can happen, but repeated unplanned outages are becoming increasingly difficult for small businesses to absorb.

We urge Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) to work with affected businesses and provide a more reliable service. Small businesses cannot continue paying the price for ongoing power interruptions.
