Never thought we’d be quite so happy to see a muddy puddle! 🌧️
It’s been a tense, dry summer behind the scenes. With pastures parched and grass growth grinding to a halt, we’ve already had to start feeding out silage meant for winter rations just to keep the cows happy and the milk flowing.
The rain finally arriving this morning has been a huge relief, putting around 20mm into the gauge so far. The ground is finally getting a proper drink, and while today’s downpour won't undo months of dry weather, it’s a brilliant start.
Here’s hoping for plenty more steady rain over the coming days so the pastures can kick back into gear before autumn sets in. 🤞🌱
