Wowzers ! No posts since April’s Iceland update ! Just for the record, I wasn’t on a social media detox, just never sat down and documented anything in the ‘virtual’ world ! After 6 months of baking apprenticeship, Small & Round has taken a gelato direction, something I’ve always loved eating and now, after a brilliant course .official something I love making too ! Recipe testing currently - who knows where this project may lead, but I’m looking forwards to finding out. Just to clarify, I’m still baking too ! Managed to spend some amazing family time between Portugal, New York, Scotland and Sicily too which was awesome ! I’ll eventually get round to posting some photos. My sourdough game has stepped up too - the best loaves yet this week - patience is the only way with that one ! More theatre shows too and was lucky enough to be part of a stage management course last month - such a fun way to spend a week - plus managed to discover some great new spots in London too. Finally visited Paris too thanks to Eurostar snap and social hub for making it kinder on my wallet 😂 ! Diabetes still been much keeping me on my toes with its habit of being rather changeable but I’m seizing the days as much as I can and trying not to let it takeover. Anyway, that’s a little summary of my last few months. And if I need any help with gelato taste testing, I’ll reach out. More photos on all of this (& more) coming soon on here and maybe on the website too if I get on it !… 😂😂😂 In the meantime, here’s a selection of just a few of the many bakes from the past 6 months - mostly sourdough - ha !

Patterns of Portugal ! Just a teaser before the proper posts on a fab 10 day trip I planned for my grandparents. An action packed trip featuring Madeira, Lisbon and the Algarve. And as pictured, some pretty tiles too ! It’s one of very few places I’ve been multiple times and thought, I could live here ! Maybe one day, but for now, enjoy the tile styles…

Cooking up a storm seeing family on the east coast 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Plus, the sun has been shining making the best beach walks even better. Even managed to fit in a pizza party and sourdough lesson.

- The Good House Royal Court - very topical and tense (in a positive way !)
- A Double Act Theatre - dark humour in a great space
- Six Theatre - Finally saw this and it was incredible !
- Fawlty towers Theatre - classic British humour
- Mamma Mia the party O2 - a proper whopper of an experience from start to finish - way better than expected - in fact, so good, there’s 3 photos of it on here ! Opa !
- The Magicians table Street - booked for 2 very special people in my life and they both loved it - close up slick magic !

He reappears out of the floury shadows with 20 photos of bread ! An unfiltered insight and appreciation for this guy (first photo) - Malc the sourdough starter - this also happens to be the name of my awesome uncle (and no they don’t look alike !) who booked me my first baking course when I was 18 ! Since then, I’ve loved challenging myself and always making time to cook and bake - for family and friends, my pop ups and more recently with bread ahead on their 6 month apprenticeship. So just some sourdough appreciation shots really, showing what can be done with flour, water and salt - that’s it. Oh, and an oven, baking steel, cast iron pot and a very sharp blade ! So tuck in virtually. It’s been a long journey to get to this point and they haven’t looked like this every time. But I’m now holding my breath less each time I open the oven and giving myself some credit for reaching the high bar I’ve been aiming for. The only trouble is, it gets consumed a lot quicker than it takes to make.

That’s a wrap - next stop, sourdough at wembley. Almost 4 months in already - how time flies, especially in the season of mince pies ! Busy busy, hence the lack of posts…
