Ever had a proper look at what’s on your bag of coffee?

Ours tells you everything. Where it’s from, what roast it is, and the date it was roasted.

No vague labels, no guesswork. Just the facts, printed plainly so you know exactly what you’re buying.

There’s a QR code too, if you want to dig a little deeper into where your coffee’s come from.

We reckon if you’re trusting us with your morning brew, you should be able to trust everything we tell you about it.

Specialty coffee gets talked about a lot, but what does it actually mean?

There’s a lot that goes into getting great coffee from where it starts to your brew.

From carefully chosen beans, to tasting different coffees before we commit, to finding the right roast, every step plays a part.

And of course, there’s one thing that officially makes a coffee specialty: it needs to score 80 or above.

Swipe through for a look behind the scenes at what goes into it.

Speciality coffee is carefully assessed for quality, but what does that actually mean?

Traditionally, coffee has been scored out of 100 when it’s assessed for things like how it smells, how it tastes and the overall quality of the cup. A score of 80 or above has commonly been used as the benchmark for speciality coffee.

At Field & Fire, all of our coffee is speciality coffee. Our Kenyan AA is one of the coffees we roast, with a bright, fruity flavour that makes it a favourite.

So when we talk about speciality coffee, it’s not just a fancy name. It’s about the quality of the coffee and the care that goes into getting it from the farm to your cup.

Our roastery, coming together.

From picking up the keys, to painting the walls, unboxing our roaster and watching the coffee bar take shape.

And now, after all the planning, building and hard work… we’re roasting coffee in our very own roastery.

A little look at how we got here.

We can’t wait to welcome you all in to see it for yourselves.

The sounds of Wednesday morning at the roastery.

This looks like ours. But it’s not our usual spot, is it?

Grinding, beans turning, machines warming up, bags being packed. We’re not saying where. We’re not saying what.

Just that something’s happening, and it sounds good.

More soon.
