Folk On The Farm

Folk On The Farm Who are the Folk On The Farm? Mainly Brian & Sue Kendrick plus various family and friends who live and work on the farm.

We farm in the heart of the National Forest breeding and rearing British White cattle on good old fashioned grass. We have a small amount of arable which provides bedding during the winter months. In addition to our livestock we hold various events during the summer to celebrate the Folk Arts in all their forms including, music, dance, song and poetry as well as hosting events for the public.

Grrrrr … when will people understand how dangerous these are to livestock and wildlife.
I’ve just picked it up in one of our fields and as you can see it is still travelling so could well end up where our cows and calves are grazing.
If you must have the wretched thing make sure they are anchored and properly disposed of after the event or have dead animals on your conscience.

We had a lovely evening last night learning the Wellerman. Most of us had never picked up a ukulele before the workshop. Thanks to Kate and Ruth for leading.

The HopBarn is a lovely converted 18th-century barn located on a working family farm in Hockerton, just 2 miles from the historic town of Southwell, Nottinghamshire.
On 11th July I shall be doing an all-day workshop (10 -4)
with The Rye Sisters.
Please join us for a great day of real harmony singing.
Stay for the evening concert too!

This tree is Old Man Ash. Goodness knows how long he has been on the farm.
A few years ago a huge part of him split and thundered to the ground in a gale.
Since then he has received the expert administrations of Eden Tree Care who have now restored him to his former glory.
He watches over our events field with kindly interest. Treat your trees well - they know.
