Mike and Beth 💜
Age just 17 Beth took her own life. Beth had the World at her feet. She was a performer, a singer and dancer on stage and always a comedian off it.
Mike: “3 Dads Walking is not a club I ever wanted to belong to, but along with Andy and Tim it gives us, as fathers, an opportunity to fight back and maybe make a difference.”
Beth showed a fierce independence often championing the underdog and refusing to follow the in crowd just because it was cool. During her time at school Beth’s creative nature really began to shine with her producing some amazing artwork, but her real passions were singing and dancing. She brought the house down in the title role of Annie in the school play.
Help was always at hand, but Beth did not know how to reach out or even that she needed to. A reaction to having her life changed by Covid and the lockdown, like many people around the world Beth had so many questions and but no one had no answers. This is why charities like PAPYRUS and HOPELINEUK are vital in the work they do, providing care and support to those who need it the most.
Beth was such a happy loving child, always surrounded by friends and family she was incredibly popular with her wit and zest for life. Her passing has had a huge effect on so many lives. She is so deeply missed by so very many people.
3 Dads Walking help raise money and awareness for the charity, ‘PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Su***de’. The partnership marks another important step in their mission to raise awareness around mental health and su***de prevention and to encourage open conversations in communities across the UK. Since coming together in 2021 the 3 Dads Walking have inspired thousands through powerful walks, school visits, and public speaking events that promote compassion, understanding, and action. The 3 Dads are dedicated to supporting families affected by su***de and helping young people feel seen, heard, and supported 🫶🏼

Tim and Emily 💜
8th March 2020, Emily decided she couldn’t cope with life under lockdown and attempted to take her own life. She died, 5 days later, in the hospital where she had been born 19 years earlier.
Tim: “If our walks do one thing, I hope it helps open up that discussion and makes people realise that it needs to be put on the national agenda. Losing our young people in these numbers is unacceptable and has such far reaching consequences for so many people for decades afterwards.”
Emily lived life at a million miles an hour, a free-spirit with no limits, charging around in her beloved Mini and travelling to Cornwall as often as possible – a place she so loved. Most people saw Emily as this ‘beautiful, funny, talented but slight crazy young lady’ as one of her friends described her.
She was the most caring person. Emily had started to make great plans and, after leaving school and gaining some more qualifications, had made her mind up to help others by working towards becoming a nurse. She had said that she would volunteer to help in the NHS during the pandemic before the volunteer scheme had been announced. She saw that as a pathway into a caring career, something she would have been so, so good at.
Emily just had no idea how many lives she touched and continues to impact. By raising awareness, 3 Dads Walking hope to help prevent other families from being devastated by su***de.

Andy and Sophie 💜
On December 19th 2018, Sophie took her own life. No one had any inkling on what Sophie was about to do– she didn’t tell anyone how she felt, she seemed like “normal” Sophie
Andy: “Since we were unable to help Sophie escape from the downward spiral that led her to kill herself, we are committed to do whatever we can to help other families avoid suffering the same pain that we know. Helping PAPYRUS gives us something positive to support in the knowledge that the work they do directly saves lives.”
Throughout her life Sophie came across as an open, happy person who was extremely sociable. She was gregarious, good fun and was always able to raise a smile. When walking into our house her “hiya” seemed to fill the place with joy.
Sophie grew up with her mum, George, in Kendal where she was Deputy Head Girl at Kirkby Kendal School, and after a summer volunteering at a Kenyan orphanage, she decided her future lay in nursing. Her nursing career took her to Edinburgh where she became an extremely well-respect oncology nurse.
By raising awareness of su***de prevention, encouraging families to talk to each other about their deepest feelings and introducing thousands of people to the lifesaving work of PAPYRUS it was clear that the stigma of talking about su***de had been reduced and many people reached out to HOPELINEUK for help.

We’re delighted to be partnering with Taste the Lakes 2026 – a Lake District celebration of food, drink, community and doing good 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️ 🍻

On Sunday 13 September 2026, Greystoke Castle will host a unique half marathon: 13 miles, 12 food & drink stops, incredible local businesses, and a day that’s more about snacks than split times, pints not PBs 👀

As one of this year’s proud event partners, Jennings will be there helping keep runners fuelled with awesome beer, cheering people on, and soaking up what promises to be a cracking day out ☀️
Because Taste the Lakes isn’t your average half marathon.
It’s part running event (or walk it – we don’t judge), part food festival, part fancy-dress party, powered by local legends and supporting an incredible cause.
And yes… there’ll be an 80s disco waiting at the finish line.
Expect delicious rewards for best 80s attire, stellar spot prizes for gloriously random finishing places (143rd could absolutely be your moment), and plenty of reasons to stay long after you’ve crossed the line.
Every step helps raise money for families affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy through the local charity Mac My Day.
Already game?
SIGN UP HERE

Expect:
• Amazing local food & drink stops
• Beautiful Lake District scenery
• Festival vibes & optional fancy dress
