Hall Farm is a working mixed farm that has been the home of, and run by, the Barrie family for over three generations since 1929. Positioned on the Suffolk and Essex border, with the river Stour running through the farms fields, the shop is ideally situated at Stratford St Mary, the gateway to Constable Country. The farm shop was opened in 2001 responding to a demand for high quality local produce

at reasonable prices. This enabled Hall Farm to retail their prize winning beef and lamb, farmed with sympathetic methods and a high level of animal husbandry.

Bank Holiday weekend is nearly here, and we’re already filling up!

If you’re planning to join us for breakfast or lunch, we’d recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. With the weather looking a little unpredictable, our courtyard tables may not be the best option, and they are usually the ones we can offer for walk-ins.

Our indoor tables are booking up quickly, so if you’ve got a visit planned, get your table request in through the booking form on our website.

How do you like your beef?

Whether you’re after a ribeye, sirloin or rump for the grill, short ribs for a slow cook, or topside, osso bucco, braising steak or mince for something a little more comforting, we’ve got plenty to choose from.

And as whole carcass butchers, if you don’t see the cut you’re looking for, just ask. We can cut it to suit you.

Whatever you fancy, we’ve got you covered :)

Our fruit display is looking especially good at the moment with UK Blueberries, English Cherries and Red Prince Apples alongside a great selection of other fresh fruit.

Some of our fruit is grown here in the UK, whilst others are sourced through our trusted wholesaler to ensure there is plenty of choice for your weekly shop.

Here’s an example of a fully stocked counter. What’s available changes throughout the week, but we always try to keep the counter as full as possible. With the sunshine bringing everyone out, things can move quickly!

Whether you’re looking for something for Sunday dinner or getting organised for next week’s meals, there’s plenty to choose from. Our variety of flavoured of kebabs are perfect for a lighter summer dinner.

With another hot and dry week ahead, why not bring the BBQ indoors? Grill your kebabs in the kitchen, then take them outside to enjoy in the sunshine. All the BBQ vibes, without actually having to light the BBQ.

A little taste of the Suffolk countryside in every bottle!

We serve three of our favourite Maynard House juices in the restaurant: Cox & Bramley Apple, Apple & Raspberry and Orange & Clementine.

We also stock larger bottles in the farm shop, in additional flavours such as Apple & Elderflower, perfect to take home and enjoy.

Maynard House is a family-run orchard business with a long history of growing fruit in the East of England. They use a variety of apples from their orchard as well as raspberries and elderflower from wild hedgerows around the orchard, giving the juice a real taste of the countryside. 🌿

If you’ve visited us before, you might recognise this handsome chap 🐓

Our cockerel has become a bit of a favourite with customers, with plenty of people commenting on how lovely he is and, occasionally, asking if he’s for sale. Unfortunately, he’s not!

Can you tell us where he lives?

It’s not quite as obvious as you might think from this photo, but if you’ve spotted him on one of your visits, let us know in the comments!

And yes, before anyone asks… he’s still not for sale.

Did you know all of our pork comes from Dingley Dell Pork A third-generation family farm in Suffolk, where animal welfare, taste and sustainability have been at the heart of what they do for over 15 years. Their unique Suffolk Red breeding programme focuses on marbling to help produce pork with great flavour and tenderness.

We then butcher it right here on site, cutting everything ourselves so we can offer a range of different cuts and sizes.

From pork chops and steaks to belly and more unusual cuts, if you don’t see what you’re looking for in the counter, ask one of our butchers and we can cut it to suit you.

Good pork starts with knowing where it comes from! 🐷
