Restaurant Tel: 01206 323600 Hall Farm is a working mixed farm that has been the home of, and run by, the Barrie family for over three generations since 1929. Positioned on the Suffolk and Essex border, with the river Stour running through the farms fields, the shop is ideally situated at Stratford St Mary, the gateway to Constable Country. The farm shop was opened in 2001 responding to a demand for high quality local produce at reasonable prices. This enabled Hall Farm to retail their prize winning beef and lamb, farmed with sympathetic methods and a high level of animal husbandry.

Some beautiful beef has made its way onto the counter this week!

We have got feather blade, chuck steak and short ribs, all with some lovely marbling running through them. Perfect for slow cooking, braising or getting creative with a really good piece of beef.

As always, our counter changes regularly and the good stuff doesn’t tend to hang around for long! So if you spot something you fancy, don’t wait too long, it might not be there when you come back.

Our Christmas Set Menu is here, with a choice of 2 or 3 courses, there’s something for everyone, from traditional Christmas favourites to a few other dishes for those looking for something a little different.

Your meal also includes tea or coffee, with Christmas crackers on the table and our restaurant decorated and ready to get you feeling festive. 🎄

Let’s put a face to the name and introduce you to Emily, one of our chefs here at Hall Farm. 👋

Emily has been part of the Hall Farm team for just over 8 years, but she’s been a chef for pretty much her whole working life, so there’s plenty of experience behind everything that comes out of our kitchen.

Her favourite thing to make is the cakes, which have been featured on our socials and you may have spotted on our servery counter from time to time.When she’s not in the kitchen, you’ll usually find Emily walking, camping or catching up with friends. And her essential drink at work is a good old cup of tea :)

Something spooky is coming to Hall Farm this October…

For Essex half term, from Saturday 24th October, our farm trail will be getting a Halloween makeover!

👻 Seven ghosts have escaped from the church graveyard next door to the farm, and they’ve stolen some of Farmer Ed’s things!

Can you help us find them and get everything back?

Our Halloween Ghost Hunt is an optional extra alongside the usual farm trail. Pick up your Ghost Hunt sheet from the Snack Shack, then keep your eyes peeled as you make your way around the trail. Find all seven ghosts, work out what they’ve stolen and solve the clues to complete your hunt.

🎃 Farm trail entry: £4.50 per person
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family entry (4 people): £16
👻 Halloween Ghost Hunt: an additional £3 per person, including a mini pumpkin prize at the end!

Your usual farm trail experience will still be running too, with all of our animals out as normal. Animal feed can be purchased from the Snack Shack alongside your trail entry.

And being October, the weather could go either way! 🍂 Come prepared for whatever the day brings; you might get a lovely dry autumn walk, or you might need your raincoat and wellies!

If it’s a chilly one, why not grab a hot drink to take away from the café and enjoy it as you make your way around the trail? Or pop in for some lunch and cake afterwards ☕️🍴

Here is one of our beautiful Dexter x Limousin cows, only 20 months old, currently enjoying a bit of shelter in the shed.

With the drought leaving the fields short on grass, we’ve moved some of our cattle into the sheds where they can stay comfortable and well fed.

But don’t worry, you can still spot them when you visit the farm trail!
