📰 IMPORTANT NEWSPAPER DELIVERY UPDATE 📰
We’d like to make our customers aware of a change to our newspaper deliveries which is unfortunately outside of our control.
InPost, the company responsible for delivering our newspapers, have changed their delivery schedule. Their drivers have now been instructed to prioritise parcel locker deliveries around Colchester before delivering our newspapers to The Layer Village Store.
Unfortunately, this is expected to add several hours of delay to our usual newspaper delivery times.
As a result, newspapers are now expected to arrive:
🗓️ Weekdays: Any time after 8am, potentially later
🗓️ Weekends: 9am at the earliest, potentially later
This unfortunately means that newspapers are unlikely to be available when we open at 7am each morning.
⏰ OUR OPENING TIME
The Layer Village Store will continue to open at 7am every morning. Please note that we will NOT be opening any earlier than 7am, as we have occasionally done in the past.
📣 UNHAPPY WITH THE CHANGE? PLEASE LET INPOST KNOW
We have been made aware that if enough customers raise their concerns directly with InPost, there is a possibility that the newspaper delivery schedule could be reconsidered and returned to the previous timings.
We would therefore strongly encourage customers who are unhappy with these changes — particularly those who rely on collecting their newspaper early in the morning — to contact InPost directly and make your concerns known.
When contacting them, please explain that your complaint relates to the newspaper delivery times to The Layer Village Store, Layer-de-la-Haye, Colchester, and that newspapers are now being delivered later due to drivers prioritising parcel locker deliveries around Colchester first, meaning newspapers are no longer arriving in time for the store’s 7am opening.

🌐 InPost Contact & Complaints: Please use InPost’s official contact form on their website.
The more customers who raise the issue directly with InPost, the more awareness there will be of the impact these changes are having on local newspaper customers.
We completely understand the frustration this may cause, and we share that frustration. Unfortunately, these delivery timings are determined by InPost and are outside of our control.
Newspapers will be made available for sale as soon as they arrive and have been processed.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support. ❤️
