Like many farmers, I have been watching the current upheaval with growing interest.
Agriculture sits at the meeting point of the microscopic and the global. Some drivers we can influence. Others are far beyond our control. What matters is how we read the situation, think through the risks, and prepare our options on the ground.
This is the first of a three-part series looking at the current disruption through a farming lens: first the published doctrine, then the likely effects on the wider farming landscape, and finally the practical choices open to us at farm level.
The picture may change, but engaging with it now gives us a better chance of responding well.
