Like everything else round here, it starts with the Irish Moileds but there’s a little bit more in The Beef Barn these days.

Fresh Irish Moiled beef, real bread, fresh milk in glass bottles and some seriously big carrots.

Open everyday, 8am–10pm. Just pop in and help yourself.

Two wee Irish Moiled calves enjoying life at Magilligan.

There are worse places to grow up, sure. A bit of fresh air, plenty of grass and the sea just over the way.

If Autumn was a box... 🍂

A little collection of Irish Moiled beef for the colder days ahead with sausages, mince, beef pieces and a roasting joint, plus a bottle of Discovery apple juice.

For slow-cooked dinners, cosy evenings and proper Sunday roasts.

From our fields to your table.

You can feel autumn starting to arrive at the Roe Estuary.

The greens are softening, the colours are turning and our Moilies are still happily grazing away.

We love this time of year. 🍂

Pregnancy cravings are no joke…

Our first-time pregnant girls have developed a taste for the finer things in life… thistles, brambles and anything else with a few prickles on it.

Out grazing at the Roe Estuary Nature Reserve, making the most of what the landscape has to offer.

Our latest little Irish Moiled heifer, just five days old and out at Magilligan with her mum.

We always have a feeling of awe about seeing a brand new calf finding her feet in such a beautiful place. Another wee girl for the herd and another little piece of the future.

Our fresh selection is looking a little fuller today.

Fresh milk in glass bottles, proper sourdough, lovely local cheese and, of course our fresh Irish Moiled beef.

We get to put the glad rags on again!

Last year we came away Highly Commended in Farm Business of the Year, so we're delighted to be heading back to the Northern Ireland Farming Awards as finalists once again.

This year we're shortlisted for Sustainable Farm of the Year and Farm Shop of the Year. Two categories that mean a lot to us and reflect so much of what we've been working towards at Moyletra.

We're in great company too with the Irish Moiled Cattle Society, Loughside Farm and The Lamb Van all nominated. It should be a great night and David will dust off the old suit.

Fingers crossed! 🤞

There's a lovely idea hidden in an ordinary Irish word.

Bóthar means road - but its origins are tied to the much older idea of a cattle track.

Before tarmac, road signs and sat-navs, animals had to find their own way through the landscape. Paths became tracks. Tracks became routes. And some routes became roads.

We can't tell you that Moilies made Ireland's first roads.

But cattle were here long before the tarmac.
