Today is all about the 4 S’s. S is for sunshine. S is for spinning. S is for sheep. S is for silence. Working in the yard was a real treat. Hearing the birds and the sheep. At times the place stood still as we all sat in silence concentrating on the heritage skill of hand spinning using drop spindles and spinning wheels. Thank you to REAP for supporting this project.

A beautiful morning sharing stories, learning new skills and producing spun wool. Using a drop spindle and then a niddy noddy to produce skeins. In awe of our grandparents and great grandparents and great great grandparents - their patience and skills in creating heritage crafts. Thank you to theRural Engagement Arts Programme for funding our Farm to Fabric programme.

The rain may be relentless but the passion to use our fleece and begin the process of turning it into wool is definitely not dampening the spirits. We have welcomed a group as part of the REAP funding to learn heritage skills over eight weeks through our Farm to Fabric project. The rams are looking on with inquisitiveness.

As we draw to the end of 2025, we reflect on what a busy year it has been. Read our latest blog - Celebrating 2025! Thank you to all of you who have visited - friends, family, participants and like minded organisations. A big thank you to our volunteers and directors - you have been amazing.
