🥔Cheshire New potatoes 🥔
How best to store….
The best storage method is a little different from our usual mature Wilja crop because their skins are thinner and they spoil faster which is why we dig daily to ensure they reach you at their best ❤️
Best way to store new potatoes:
🥔 Keep them in a cool, dark, well-ventilated place
🥔 Ideal temperature: about 45–50°F (7–10°C)
🥔A pantry, cellar, or cool cupboard works well.
Store them in:
*🥔a paper bag
*🥔mesh bag
*🧺basket or crate
******Whilst we use plastic bags to sell our potatoes, you will note that we never tie them up and will tell you NOT to seal the bag for very long. This is because moisture 💦builds up and causes rot 🤢.*******
Whilst no one is a fan of a muddy kitchen, DO NOT. wash them before storage. 🧹Brush off loose dirt only.
Keep them away from:
*🧅onions (they speed spoilage)
*☀️direct sunlight (causes greening)
*🔥heat sources
“Can I keep them in the fridge ?”🥶
Usually not ideal for potatoes because cold temperatures convert starch to sugar and can affect taste and texture.
HOWEVER… very fresh new potatoes, like ours, can be refrigerated for a short time if your kitchen is 🥵warm.
