Ask me what my hobbies are and I will tell you cheese and wine. Seriously. Is there anything better?! And that’s a rhetorical question, because I know in my soul that there simply is not. A wine and cheese situation can be as casual or classy as you like, and can be enjoyed at home, or out and about. This is where Plonk comes in.

With a selection of cheeses, saucissons and patĆ©s to die for - and that’s before you even get onto the wine - this dreamy destination can be found in Cotteridge. We visited on a gloriously sunny day, which allowed us to sit al fresco. With the gentle hum of traffic, and a beautifully cold carafe of Vinho Verde, I’ve never felt more relaxed.

Oh! I forgot to mention the gloriously kitsch crisp flavours! The Goats Cheese & Chilli flavour we selected were incredibly moreish and we happily nibbled away whilst awaiting our cheese platter. We didn’t have to wait long before she arrived - looking incredibly appetising. I’m ashamed to say that I can’t remember what they all were. Only that I thoroughly enjoyed each and every one, especially the soft offering. And the saucisson? Addictive. What a tablescape.

If you love wine, but don’t know much about it (like me), have a chat with them before ordering and you won’t be lead astray. Open Thursdays & Fridays from 5pm til late, and Saturdays & Sundays from 2pm, you really should add this one to your list for a weekend adventure. I was so pleased to finally make it over, and you will be too!

If you thought Mocksy were all about desserts, then you clearly haven’t seen their drinks menu! It’s had a refresh and there are some great summer sips on offer!

We tried a selection in store and were blown away. There are some spectacular flavour combinations and the team are always keeping an eye on the trends to update the selection. These drinks are such a treat. More and more people are choosing to stay away from alcohol, for a whole variety of reasons, but that doesn’t mean you have to stick to water or a can of pop. You can still treat yourself with some gorgeous concoctions. Here’s what we tried:

✨ The Frappes: these are ridiculously good. One sip and you’ll be hooked. The White Chocolate & Raspberry is a dreamy flavour combinations, but I think the Strawberry Cheesecake might be even better. This one contains crushed biscuit, which adds a really delicious texture and flavour to the drink
✨ Strawberry & Lychee Mojito - another great combo. I love all things lychee. What a refreshing drink!
✨ Cherry Blossom Matcha - I was really excited to try this one and it’s a great example of the interesting flavourings at Mocksy. I’ve never seen this on a menu before. Really lovely and the team will customise this for you depending on how strong you like your matcha
✨ Mango & Passionfruit Cooler: summer in a glass, right here. Such an easy drinker
✨ Exotic Fruits Smoothie: loved the consistency of this, as it wasn’t too thick. Amongst other things, it contained green tea, banana, passion fruit & guava. Health in liquid form!

All these, and many, many more are available now in store and are coming soon to a delivery app near you! They’re on all the usuals - Deliveroo, JustEat, Uber Eats… and don’t forget about all of their delicious desserts too šŸ˜‹ | Invite

After a short closure, Vynes of Kenilworth are back with a bang, bringing great wines and a gorgeous selection of small plates. And, ok, they do have large plates too, but I personally think eating tapas style is the way to go here.

We visited on the night of their reopening and the vibes were so good. All the doors were open to invite the Spring breeze, the energy was buzzing and the wine was perfectly chilled. The customer service was on point and we really appreciated the little touches - including the cucumber in our water glasses. So refreshing, and just a little bit boujie!

Starting with some nibbles, the olives were beaut, but it was the Parmesan, anchovy and olive dipping sauce that stole the show for me. Taking the warm bread, and lathering it in this concoction was one of the best parts of this meal. Kudos to the chef.

For our ā€œmainsā€, I thought I’d go for the classic pork and scallop combination, whilst my veggie friend did the Tomato & Mozzarella Arancini, with some padrons. The scallops were so beautifully presented in their shell, atop of a butternut squash puree, with some crumbled feta and almonds adding saltiness and texture respectively. A 10/10 dish for me, especially with the crispy kale on the side. Mind you, that crispy pork belly, glazed in miso, soy and honey was up there too. Some of my fave flavours here. The pickled mushrooms helped to cut through the fatty meat, with the chilli adding a bit of heat. I also really have to shout out the fries. You can tell by their deep, dark colour that they had been double (maybe even triple?!) cooked, and the flavour of these - my god. I inhaled them. Don’t worry though, I saved room for dessert - a stunning White Chocolate cheesecake with raspberries. Another match made in ingredient heaven.

I think this is where Vynes really excels - great flavours and great ingredients. Culinary alchemy at its best. And I’ve barely scratched the surface of their menu!

So get yourself booked in and let the adventure commence & don’t forget to follow too!

How amazing was the sunshine over the Bank Holiday weekend?! For once, the weather was on side, and what better way to celebrate than with some great food and drinks šŸ˜

What I love most about Saint Paul’s Market, is the great selection of vendors. I’m always spoilt for choice, so it’s nice to try something different every time.

Especially since the weekend also brought with it some exciting newness! First up, a couple of frozen cocktails, which are sure to be big summer sips. Choose from the classic Frozen Marg, or if tequila isn’t your thing, why not try the Tropic Thunder, which features rum and fruit flavours (plus a toy soldier, obvs) Highly recommend checking these out asap!

Likewise, with the newest vendor - Because an Iced Coffee is another summer must for me. The Salted Cream Ca Phe was absolutely delightful - consider me a Vietnamese Coffee convert šŸ˜

Food wise, with the heat, we kept things pretty light. The Mezzeh Platter from .birmingham was 10/10. Warm bread, with cool dips and salad - yes, please. And I will only be eating my olives grilled from now on, thank you very much. I also FINALLY ordered from and naturally went for an Nduja Slice, which was so full of flavour. I love me some pizza. We ended with the Moo Deng from for a bit of BBQ. The spice mix on this pork is incredible, and you know they keep the meat beautifully juicy, which just the right amount of char.

This spot is always a pleasure - hit them up soon for some guaranteed Summer fun!
