First day out showing this year on Saturday at Lurgan, Co Armagh. Brought a very small team of 3 sheep and a fourth place with this shearling ram was the best I achieved. Miserable weather during the week didn’t inspire my prep & miserable weather on the day didn’t inspire my showing, but sure - the craic was good as always!
Every day is a school day & I’ve been giving 2026 breeding some radical thought 😉

One trimming stand extensively braced to hopefully prevent this big idiot from pushing forward on the headstock post, bending the mounting bracket & then snapping it right off 😬

A whole lotta sheeping done today at Ballyworkan - from foot trimming to fleece shearing to foot bathing to fly spraying to lamb weaning. My wife keeps reminding me that when I first got my Jacobs I told her they weren’t going to be a lot of work 😂

All sheep at Ballyworkan & Four Towns vaccinated today against BTV-3 using Bultavo 3. Don’t know if it’s necessary or not, or even if it’s needful or not, but hey - you gotta keep doing whatever might be best! Almost vaccinated myself whilst at it but don’t think it was anything more than a needle prick 😂

Hogget ewes overwintered on grass. They’ve been home for a couple of weeks to get sheared, feet checked, dosed, mineral drench & any other maintenance jobs. Back out to grass today. 5 of the 7 are homebred & there’s a Kingarrow (Blossom) & a Beltrim (Nicki) in along with them.
