Cow pat bingo 2026 done for another year ✔️. Minnie dutifully did her business and was a superstar throughout the day at Benenden Village fete. It was so lovely to put the faces to names meeting lots of our customers and signing up new people to our doorstep delivery service of milk and our other dairy products

So what’s the difference between your milk and supermarket milk? 👇
Part 3

Our whole milk has higher fat content.

Looping back to the processing part… our milk is only pasteurised. It’s not homogenised or fat standardised like the supermarket milk

Fat standardisation is the process of separating the raw whole milk creating skimmed milk and cream which are then blended back together in precise ratios to achieve the desired final fat percentage for all milk types.

Our whole milk stays whole and is only pasteurised.
This is what makes it so desirable for baristas and ice cream parlours to use as it’s got a higher fat content than the supermarket milk and because it is not homogenised, it allows the latte art to hold its shape for longer.

Our Whole milk 4.2- 4.3 % fat

Supermarket whole milk is 3.7% fat

Our semi-skimmed and skimmed milks are in essence, fat standardised, because that’s how semi and skimmed are achieved… you add skimmed milk back into whole milk to create semi-skimmed which comes in at 1.8%. However, it feels and tastes different because it’s not homogenised.

So what’s the difference between your milk and supermarket milk? 👇
Part 2

Our milk is fully traceable and has low food miles. It goes from us straight to you.

Our milk is from our cows and only our cows, pasteurised and bottled on our farm dairy and delivered by our vans directly to you.

Whereas, supermarket milk comes from a range of farms across the country, (albeit produced to the same standards as us) travels to the dairy to be processed then travels to the supermarket depots for further distribution to the supermarket shelves.

Our cows…our milk…our farm dairy…our vans
From us straight to you.

So what’s the difference between your milk and supermarket milk? … 👇
Part 1

Our milk is only pasteurised

Supermarket milk is pasteurised, homogenised & fat standardised

In our milk, the cream rises to the top - you don’t get that with supermarket milk because homogenising is the process that breaks up the fat molecules so they’re suspended within the milk and no longer rise to the top.

Follow for part 2 of the differences.

The Cheesemakers of Canterbury use our Guernseys’ milk to make the Tams Tipple Cheddar-style and Winnie’s Wheel Camembert style cheeses.

We named these cheeses after the late Winifred Grace and Thomasine Ann Manford fondly known as Winnie and Tam.

The sisters-in-law were the driving force behind the business, Mother and Aunt to Richard, Sally and Graham and whose names we still trade under today - WG & TA Manford.
