I'm taking part in the Aspire Channel Swim challenge again this year, with the aim to swim the 22 miles in 8 weeks. My hope is to raise some much needed funds for the spinal injury charity, Aspire, and if anyone out there would like to sponsor me for my swimming, that would be very much appreciated!! Every eight hours, someone is paralysed by spinal chord injury and this can happen to anyone and any time. Aspire supports these people, providing them with practical help, so they can continue to live an as independent life as possible. As part of the challenge I've so far managed to complete almost 11 miles, so I'm well on my way to getting to France! Thanks everyone! :)

Two tiers of rich fruit cake matured over time and fed regularly with Cointreau! The flowers are all handmade and individually dusted with colours.

Having sorted through most of my things that I no longer require, I've discovered there's a fair few things ready to go to any takers! First up, I have 4kg (4 x 1kg) tins of condensed milk! Any takers?! :)

Happy New Year everyone!! I hope you have all had a wonderful festive season and are ready for all that 2014 will bring you! Fingers crossed it's a good year for everyone!

On the business side, as I mentioned a few times last year, I was planning on cutting way back on the number of requests I take on. Whilst I've thoroughly enjoyed making all of your cakes, it has also come at a personal cost, namely my family life and studies. Unfortunately, the actual profits I make for the vast amounts of time involved in this venture means that it is just not sustainable.

I have, therefore, over the festive season come to the difficult decision that I am no longer able to take on new orders. The orders that are still outstanding will of course be completed to my usual standard, and I am sure I will enjoy making each and every one of them!

I would hereby again like to thank you all for your support and enthusiasm over the last two years, as it has been a real pleasure to help provide you with cakes for your special occasions! I'm sure other Mums, however, will understand my need to concentrate on what comes first - my family.

Thank you once again and may I wish you all the very best for the new year!
