About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join our team as an HGV Workshop Manager / Assistant Fleet & Operations Manager. This is a dual-role position combining hands-on workshop leadership with support for daily transport operations.

Key Responsibilities
Workshop Management
• Oversee the day-to-day running of the HGV workshop
• Plan, schedule, and monitor maintenance, servicing, and repairs
• Allocate and prioritise daily workloads to maximise efficiency
• Ensure all vehicles meet DVSA and legal compliance standards
• Maintain high levels of health and safety compliance
• Manage workshop staff, including technicians and apprentices
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
• Manage job cards and ensure effective workshop organisation
• Control parts inventory and workshop budgets
• Liaise with management on workload, performance, and operational needs
Fleet & Operations Support
• Assist in managing daily transport operations and logistics planning
• Support route planning and fleet utilisation
• Monitor driver compliance, tachographs, and working time regulations
• Help ensure adherence to Operator Licence requirements
• Work closely with the Fleet Manager, providing day-to-day operational support
• Maintain a “can-do” attitude and promote a positive working environment
• Provide drivers with a clear and open line of communication
• Demonstrate flexibility, with the ability to work unsociable hours including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
• Contribute to continuous improvement of operational processes
Requirements
• Proven experience in HGV workshop management or a senior technician role
• Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance and compliance
• Good understanding of UK transport regulations and Operator Licence obligations
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
• IT literate (experience with fleet management systems preferred)
• CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) – desirable but not essential
• Full UK driving licence (HGV licence advantageous)
